| I'd imagine Brown will pick up a two match ban so it's a straight swap for the Catalans game with Fash back in after his ban.

| You can't help feel that this shows further that certain clubs constantly get away with things that other clubs don't it occurs too often to be a coincidence. 2 nearly identical tackles around the legs hull concede a penalty and 10 mins and Wigan concede nothing.
Connor and farrells high tackles very similar, farrells was arguably worse as Griffin failed a head test, maybe Griffin should have got up and started throwing verbals and crying to the ref like the worlds best fullback did last week. Connor gets 10 mins and again Wigan don't concede a penalty.
Maybe it's refs are scared to penalise and make big calls against the bigger clubs or maybe its just incompetence but 2 nearly identical incidents in 2 weeks and only one team is punished makes you think.

| Hull FC are so impressive, performance improvement game on game as the play book message become reality. Where we are today is everything we could have hoped for in just a handfull of games. So, it’s still early days really, but we were like a machine yesterday against a team big on history and favours. I’m wondering......could there be more improvement to come ?
If there is, my word, we are going to be so hard to knock over and fingers crossed we could just be at the start of a very special period in FC history. I just hope the Hodgson Ellis combo is ours for the long term and the start of a legacy.

| Gaskell was on report for a similar tackle on Thursday as well. Given that the Disciplinary Panel have to look at that and the Brown tackle it will be interesting to see if they look at the Powell tackle as well - and telling if they do not.

| Quote: Touchliner "An excellent analysis of the incidents that all took place on the same day in front of the cameras and for the fans watching so we can obviously look forward to a statement from the RFL explaining the inept interpratation of the rules and an apology to Jack Brown. They won't ignore this opportunity to make things clear will they, well done Chtris.'"
It will certainly be interesting what the RFL and disciplinary panel will do and see how they deal with 3 incidents that all were almost identical, Browns tackle and the one by Salford were pretty much identical but one a penalty and sin bin the other nothing. Then the Powell one which was the worst of the 3 again no penalty and Powell has a habit of this technique.
So all 3 on the same day in full view of officials and TV cameras.
But no doubt after such a great job with the Savelio/Clubb situation I can only think of another mess in the making.

| Quote: Rugby Raider "Apologies from my earlier post, no penalty with the Powell incident. This just makes the whole incident to worse.
All these incidents should be addressed collectively tomorrow. This should carry a straight two match ban.
Going forward, it should be a direct sin bin offence and a two match ban. That might then focus the minds of all the players and the referees. If the referees don’t follow this action in the game, then they should also cop a two match ban themselves.'"
I’d say Browns tackle was the same as the one Fash was pinged for against Huddersfield (IIRC?) and he was given a caution by the panel as it was deemed he hadn’t put the joint in an unnormal direction or words to that affect.
I know the officials have a hard job but the incidents on show in the games yesterday really do high light the big inconsistencies not only game to game with different officials but more worryingly by the same officials in the same game which are just too frequent to not address or ignore.

We played the conditions well yesterday.
The improvement has to come from our attack and not just rely on barge overs and i am certain it will once we get Reynolds back to full fitness and Connor back at full back.
Just wish we had some real pace in our backs

There will certainly be grounds for appeal if Brown is banned and Powell isnt given the same punishment especially as Brown was sent the sin bin.

Surely with the games being on show on TV, the panel CANNOT ignore a sanction for both Powell's tackle (Griffin's howl of pain was clearly audible as Powell hit the knee from the side) and Farrell's high shot on Griff that caused him to fail the head-test. At some point it's going to be so obvious that the 'glamour' teams are getting special treatment.
On the game itself, yet another marker laid down and more evidence that we are a different team under BH. I have, so far this season, refused to allow myself to believe that we have made a step change (false dawns have been rife in recent years), but 7 games in and you can't ignore the difference in approach, spirit and sheer determination that the lads are showing. Hopefully exciting times ahead!

It wasn't the conditions for expansive rugby yesterday. We knew that and we went with a very simple gameplan knowing that we had the measure of Wigan in an arm wrestle. I was pleased with our patience, there was a long period in the second half when we were in control but couldn't quite kill the game off and it must have been tempting to push a few more passes and try to make things happen. But we stuck to the plan and gradually ground Wigan down. It wasn't always pretty but it was smart wet weather rugby. Throw in Swift not really being a ball player and it was the only way to approach the game imo.
In better conditions with our first choice spine together on the field I'm sure we will look a bit more easy on the eye.

Got to say pre match, you nailed it with an excellent explanation of how you thought the game would pan out.
And it made me laugh as it was posted on the Wigan board, who to be fair to them, took it with good grace.
We know it’s early days, but this appointment of BH is initially proving a master stroke, the way things have changed so quickly, is nothing short of miraculous.
Defensively we have been as good as any team, and with Jake returning will give us that X factor in attack, it’s this part of our game which concerns me, I do believe our half’s should use the short in goal kicking option more, we don’t apply pressure, and turn teams around as much as we could.
I also feel this horrible six again rule is very much a cop out for referees, as fifty percent of the times, under normal circumstances, they would not be giving penalties for scrums on technicalities in such a large number.
Really positive start to the season for us, and I for one am looking forward to testing ourselves against the Saints, they are the benchmark, can we also nail them.

| Powell and Brown tackles both considered by Disciplinary Committee and both given 0 match penalty. Strange how one resulted in a sin binning and the other not even a penalty.
No penalty for Farrell and head high tackle. Let’s see if Griffin is fit to play next week.

Think Griff will be good to go. 9 day turn around and compulsory 7 day lay off.
Brown has benefitted from the fact that Wigan players don’t get suspended
I read somewhere on the forum that O’Loughlin was sent up 29 times and was cleared 28 of them

Thinks that right decision, browns tackle was fine, only looks bad because, player was bent back over him, and Powell would have to retire if they’d of given him a ban, does it every week, refs are shocking, any excuse to slow the game down, penalising mau for actually attempting to play the ball properly is just laughable
