| For the love of Christmas
Grix has to go
The players must regard him as a muppet
They refuse to play for him
They turn up when they want and they’re really really not scared of him or that outcome of a Shoite performance
He has no gravitas or credibility
Anyone can see the players run themselves
They are their own bosses
Grix has to go at the end of the season
How can he coach alongside JC
The players just think “ oh yeah - you were that clown before JC”
Some of that play v Cas was akin to League 2
Utter garbage
Shoite on top of Shoite on top of more steaming shoite
Grix clearly has to go and I can’t hear an argument any other way

Not been impressed with him but in fairness what coaches have the players respected?
Gentle was forced out, Radford struggled until the leaders in the dressing room shut him out at Widnes and gave the squad a boot up the...after a golden spell we were back not being bothered at the end of seasons again a couple of years later.
The players performed for Last but that was a short spell in a bonkers season. They then didn't perform for Hodgson and Smith.
So yes Grix could be better but these problems are over a decade deep now.

| I'd say it's a good move getting Last back, he's well respected as a coach and with the benefit of hindsight that mini run we had in 2020 was glory days compared to what has come since.
Also a sign we are spending more money on the backroom team.

why is he respected? Because he gets in early, puts the kettle on and stays to lock up? I've heard this lots of time sbut no one seems to know why he's respected. cas were a shiitshow under him and he was radford's sidekick during the steep decline

Well Shaun Wane rates and respects him enough to have him as his assistant, McNamara too

I know, but I'm asking what he brings to the table.
I respect a couple of guys who work for me because they're reliable and do as they're told but I wouldn't trust them to run things

People on here are hardly going to know that are they?
I don't think Last keeps getting jobs if he was a poor assistant coach.
Let's be honest, you would have found the negative no matter who will appointed, just like everything else the club does.

I only criticise poor appointments/decision. I didn't criticise us signing asiata or appointing catrwright as coach nor us bringing in an experienced physio. People only see what they want to see.
As for People on here are hardly going to know that are they? I fully agree. It's the same argument as when people criticise signings and are then challenged as to who they would have brought in instead.
My question about last was really asking if anyone had any insider knowledge given he was at the club for about 20 years before he left

Depends what influence he had as Radfords assistant as I can see Radford being it’s my way or no way…how much influence did Purtil have under Radders and he was highly respected.

Dunno but he doesn't seem to have had much positive effect under macnamara either. If he can't influence the coach he shouldn't be in the position anyway.
I just think it' a lazy, uninspiring appointment when we could have really gone out of our way to find someone who can make a difference. it's the same as signing briscoe, chamberlain, hardaker, cust, sezer and rapana. In isolation they're not bad signings it's just the more of that ilk you sign the further from where you could have been that you get.
Next season we're probably going to be playing a full back in the centre, a winger at full back and a half back at hooker. Why not just sign players to play in their natural position?

| Rapana has played a majority of games this season at fullback, pretty sure if he is good enough to play FB in the NRL he can do it in SL.
Hardaker has played over 100 games at centre
Don't get the Cust signing. but maybe they will not play in those positions, let's see where Cartwright chooses to play people, before we start to panic.

Radders signed his past it mates for Cas, not sure any coach would have got much out of Fonua 5 years past his sell by date
Yes he was there for the start of our decline but he was also there for the cup wins and success. And like others I take Wane and McNamara rating him as a good sign.

We’ve appointed an Aussie coach, I think in the NRL they put a lot less emphasis on natural positions, outside backs especially seem a lot more interchangeable and clubs will sign say someone who’s playing on the wing but sign them to play centre or full back or vice versa because they think they’ve got the skill set. Also a lot of 6 or 7’s make the switch to what they call the ‘14 jersey’ as the interchange dummy half. I’m not saying the recruitment is particularly great or that they’ll all work out, but I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Cust, Sezer, Rapana and Cartwright Jrn have all played under Cartwright Srn. I’m sure he knows the skill set and trusts them to play the positions he has in mind. He could be just plain wrong of course but when you appoint a coach you have put a certain amount of trust in their judgement in players even if working under a DOR.
