How many young players are missing the chance of progression in Cumbria without a SL team in their area. Hundreds of amateur clubs and thousands of youngsters playing the game there.
No matter how you try to spin it, London in all its different guises has being a complete and utter failure imo'"
It depends on your criteria of what makes a club a success?
Personally, a club who contribute to vastly increasing participation numbers in the country and the talent pool for SL clubs is pretty important. Losing London would have a far bigger negative impact on the game than losing say Wakefield, Castleford, Widnes or Salford.
They've fallen on hard times, terrible management and ownership for the past 6 years. We've been there too in the past, we were bailed out. I'm not sure why, generally, RL fans have such apathy towards London.

Don't agree with that at all. but hey its all about opinions. I would imagine the vast majority of Londoners would not even no a RL team exists so I don't think they will miss it when it goes.
Where as most teams up here are part of the community, they have longstanding routes, London have had that many name changes, venue changes etc that they have no chance at all to do that. When are we going to realise that south of Yorkshire no one is the slightest bit interested in RL. The national press certainly arnt.
Only on Sunday the papers carried 5-6 pages of englands union international against NZ where Englands WC game managed about half a page towards the back of the sports sections. Sad but true.

I wasn't making a point on the effect London have on the media in London (I agree with your point regarding the media), it was surrounding participation and the talent pool to pick from. The other things you mention about people not being interested South of Yorkshire is flatcap nonsense.
You mentioned that London have failed, but what would be regarded as success? What criteria are you using to class a club a success or failure? One of their failures is not finding a permanent home, definately, but they have successes too, particularly in grassroots RL, which no other club would be able to achieve.
Like I said before, I don't understand the ill-feeling towards London, why RL fans generally want to see them fail.

Plenty of ignorance in this post. If you could answer me some questions:
When did the RFL pump any additional money into London, other than their proportion of SKY money that every club gets?
Other than Brisbane, who are the other Australian cubs your alluding to who have pumped money in?
Why is it a problem that Brisbane invested in the London club 20 years ago?
Should the RFL help bail out Bradford, Keighley, Rochdale, Salford, HULL etc etc, and not help out London?
What could Feath or Halifax possibly add to the competition?
Thanks

Im sorry but it is not flatcap nonsense, its a fact, I have family in the south and I work all over the country.
It dosnt get any media attention on tv or the press, it is not played in schools, it is not shown on tv in pubs.
I don't want any team to fail, I would love RL to be as big as union and have the national exposure it deserves but it never has and never will simple as that.

Not going to bother discussing it any further, it's gone way past the point I made / thread topic (comparing it to RU, media exposure, shown in pubs etc ) and I can't be bothered.
Some articles you should probably read on school participation in London:
www.londonrl.com/get_involved/pl ... gby_league
www.eastlondonrugbyleague.com/school-rugby/
Info on the amateur clubs in and around London:
www.londonrl.com/clubs
They've made giant strides in London over the past few years and amateur clubs are popping up all over the place in the South. London folding would rip up alot of the grassroots work done in London, access to decent coaching and remove a big section of our future talent pool - that's the point.

That's some pretty impressive numbers, 500 schools, close to 1200 teams, 120,000 students taking part and then around 40 amateur clubs in the London area.
This is great progress, I agree, but we're talking London Broncos and Super League.
Genuine question (I honestly don't know and the numbers just don't add up):
If there are so many people involved and playing RL at many levels in London how come so few of them support their local SL franchise?

One thing I have been saying for years is that they play in Twickenham which is a sod to get to if you live elsewhere in London, never mind anywhere else. If you play RL at school in say Tottenham, it will take the best part of an hour and a half to get to the game, then the same back and you have to factor in travelling with others (including possibly parents who may not want to take you).
rlTottenham to Twickenham TFL suggestionrl
To compare, on a good day, I can get from my house in Sheffield to the KC in just over an hour.
The club isn't big enough to merit its own ground, but sharing with a team north and fairly central in London would be start, if they can get out of the current hole.

I always hear the location issue as the major stumbling block for the Broncos, but they did play in Barnet (North London?) for a year or two back in the early 90s and I don't remember seeing a boost in attendances at the time, although I may be wrong.
Having lived and worked in and around London for much of the 90s I always saw the main issue as a chronic lack of advertising and publicity. I'm just not sure at the time many Londoners even knew the Crusaders/Broncos even existed, but maybe that's changed now.

A mix of things, but the main two IMO are the lack of a long-term home / playing in Twickenham and gross mismanagement / lack of marketing since Hughes took over.
They need to find a place, whether that's Barnet, Brentford, Charlton and set up roots there, building their support from the local community (not London as a whole as it's simply too big). Moving every few years didn't help and neither is being in Twickers.
The mnagement then need to market themselves, which has been non-existent for the past few years. if nobody knows your there, they're not going to come and watch.
Unfortunately, the owner and his mates who are incharge don't have a clue.

I think the London Bronco's club and brand need to be killed off and a new club to start from the ashes. The brand is toxic in RL circles, and unknown in London so there's no point keeping it. I'd start a new club in Championship1 with local players and go from there, the 2k fans they have will most likely stick with it, if they've sat through the last few seasons of struggle they'll be willing to watch a winning side at a lower level IMO.
Barnet's new 5k capacity ground looks ideal as an outsider, and London Bees could be a good brand name if implemented properly.

TBH, those issues all sound solvable to me, which is a good thing. Maybe the main issue is finding the right owner, someone with the appetite for bringing SL to the London masses and with the business acumen to put a plan in place and stick to it knowing it's not going to be a quick fix.
Hopefully that person exists and can be found quickly as it sounds like the Broncos are on life support ATM.
