| Finch was brilliant against us, everything went through him and he create so much space and time it was unreal. Like I said Finch is a great player and regularly runs the show, would be a brilliant signing for us only downside is his age. But someone like Finch I don't think that it should stop us this time around.
Seymour is getting abit of stick, but imo he has done good and we shouldn't be looking to get rid. We finally have a 7 who can string more than 2 games together, isn't held together by tape and has a good kicking game etc. He's 27 and had multiple half back partners. Been a good signing for me and look forward to seeing him for atleast a couple more seasons with Hull FC.

I haven't seen anyone giving Seymour 'stick', particularly. He's a good 7 in the same way that Horne is a good 6.

| Could be a good move, but also means another season of a new halfback pairing getting used to each other. As I said in another thread, with this much rebuilding and likely another season of transition in store, I would like to see Gentle add at least another year to his stay. I'm more than prepared to be patient and see this scale of work done, as it is the best thing in the long run, but if we're being asked to give Gentle time I'd just feel a little more reassured to know that he's determined to see it through properly and hang around.

You rely on stats way too much. Horne misses fewer tackles, has better positioning, and tackles better. Just comparing the number of tackles made tells only part of the story.
I'm going to take a leaf out of your old book and rely on what I've seen watching all the games.

Wrong choice of word I suppose but I have seen people commenting things such as, "Thought he had a good kicking game?", Poor defensively at the beginning of the season, Slow passing etc.
Which I think is harsh and I would be more than happy seeing Seymour as our 7 for the near future. As I can't see us signing better. Although I did read that Mitchell Pearce could be available, but we won't be signing NSW's current 7 will we.

I think Sebasteeno could be on the right track, find a scrum half and move Seymour to stand off.
Either way though, bringing in a quality halfback partner could be enough for him to shine more. I do agree with what you're saying, both of our half backs are 'good'. That's not really enough to compete for trophies, but on the other hand few of the succesful sides over here have had 2 genuinely top quality halves, so if we can get hold of one and get a bit more out of Seymour we could be laughing.

| I like the idea of Horne at full back, a steadying influence and reliable.
If this means a top class half back coming in, even better.

Ditto. I like Horney, but this seems a positive move if it works out.

It does indeed only tell a part of the story, Ellis gives away less penalties and makes less errors.Ellis is a bigger hitter than Horney he has done a couple of big hits, he is also a better kicker, however on saying that he is not a better player than Horney at 6 yet as he has not got the experience in his thought patterns and ability to read the game like Horney imo, I think if Ellis could develop certain areas of his game he could be a very good 6, jury is still out on that though, although Gentle said he expects Ellis to be a very good footy player in the future.
Glad you are watching games, personally though those FCTV games do not give the full picture to what is happening when players have not got ball in hand

Could have fooled me, as every time Kosh posts you can't see farther than the 'green username' and actually get to the content of his post.
