Agreed. Whilst I'd love to win the GF, as an occasion it's completely outdone by the CC final.

| Quote we are hull="we are hull"challenge cup and win at wembley and shut the rovers fans up or win at old traford and be the best in the league?'"
You need to win the CCup at Wembley to finally get the monkey off the back.
Interesting point about the Grand Final do you think it should have more importance than winning the league ?
I'm in favour of the League winners having more importance , it shows now with the new format the best team in SL.

| I'm 56 and done or seen most of the of the things in my life that I wanted to do or see except for seeing FC lift that cup at Wembley.
I thought Cardiff was brilliant but a win at Wembley would be the ultimate.
Old Trafford whilst a great occasion is in my opinion a "created for TV" situation. The champions are the team that finish top of the league, end of.

I like the concept of it and some of the finals have been crackers, showcasing the intensity and excitement of the best sport in the world. I think it's a good way to build to a real season climax and keep interest going in what would otherwise be a really long off season. Personally I just didn't rate the occasion experience compared to either Cardiff or Wembley. Not a big fan of Old Trafford and didn't have a great view. Less of a family occasion than the CC, plus those bl00dy airhorns

| After going to the grand final in 2006 i have to say the ccup at wembley for me. old trafford is a sh$t hole compared to wembley or cardiff.
Infact if Hull got to the grand final again i would seriously have to consider wether i would go again.

Spot on, plus as has already been mentioned there is the historic side of the the Challenge Cup, not to mention the much higher national (indeed international) profile.

We said the same in 2006, regardless of the fact we lost, just wasn't that enjoyable as an occasion. Of course we'd end up going, but it wouldn't be as exciting as a weekend in London with Wembley thrown in.

For me Hemmings and Co are always trying to play down the History of the CCup and 'bigging ' up the Grand Final. As it stands a team can finish eighth and still win it where as the Champions are the most consistent team in the competition . I suppose times are changing and it generates a lot of money and if marketed correctly prestige and publicity for the game. No way are they Champions though.
