| Quote Ian P="Ian P"If anyone thinks that our CEO makes decisions on hiring and firing coaches they are well out of touch with things. He like everyone else does as he is told and I am going to amaze a few people with my next comments.
He has done a good job all things considered.
1) He took over in the wake of the cooke saga and steadied the ship
2) He took the blame over the Thackery registration and it was not his fault
3) The club is clearly operating on a good business level, I think even the harshest of the clubs critics would agree with that.
4) He is articulate and has clearly demonstrated a high level of commitment to the club and by that I mean the board.
5) He is loyal to his employer and that is not a crime, the board pays his salary not us muppets.
Agar is one problem
Jimbo is IMHO not

| Quote ChrisH="ChrisH"I agree with much of what you say about Agar but he's the reason that Rule has such a tough time. If the results were good , if Agar was , lets say , more media friendly ( could speak English etc) then Rule could be left to do the jobs he should be doing and is good at. Morgan does most of the spin and media work at KR. I can't see that keeping Agar is anything to do with Rule , the board yes but not Rule on his own. It doesn't really matter what he thinks , what can he do slag him off?
It's a fait accompli , we're down a blind alley , we've no choice but to keep Agar now or at best end up with Sharp instead. The Board got it wrong when they sacked Sharp P , they did then what we want them to do now and bow to fan pressure to do "something". They should have waited. They shouldn't have appointed Agar. I find it difficult to believe anything Rule says at the moment and bet he does too but unless he joins the Agar out brigade he's got to back him. He's part of the problem in that he was part of the process that got us to where we are but until we get a presentable coach and a squad pulling together he's frankly p1ssing in the wind.'"
Interesting perspective on Rule's position, Ian P also. However, if it is indeed the case that he had no part in Agar's appointment and has no power to sack him then he has simply accepted that it is part of his remit to be a 'lightening conductor' for the wrath of fans. Thus by being prepared to continually back Agar in the press and on the radio he deserves the flack that he gets for this aswell as the damage to fans perceptions of his intelligence and ability to do his job. I accept of course that he's in a good, highly paid job and it's understandable that he doesn't want to lose it and therefore has to tow the party line, but as a consequence of this he has to accept the resulting criticism.

| Quote andymacca="andymacca"What confuses me is. Sharp had a better win % then Agar, and had had notable success with us, GF in 06 and 4th in 07. Yes, 08 was not looking good and he had 'lost the dressing room' but he like Agar had the Franchise safety blanket also so we wouldnt of being relegated last year. We played better rugby under Sharp, though I admit it still wasnt great. It just seems like one rule for one and one for another...pardon the pun'"
I think the board have realised that they probably got rid of Kear and Sharp too hastily...so are deciding to give time to the coach that really doesn't deserve it in a bid for stability.
Whilst i was in favour of Sharp going (I think he had really ran out of ideas and physically appeared drained and stressed) the rugby we thought was bad then was better than 2009 has been
this clubs got so bad that i'm getting misty eyed for the inconsistent days of Kear, missing the playoffs cos of salary cap breach in 2003, heck at least 1999 had the stress and drama of possibly going down and going bust. This season is just dead rubber all the way now.

Fair point, it's one of my biggest fears that if Agar does get the boot they'll only install J Sharp, but I don't think that's a valid reason to accept Agar staying!

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"Great post which echoes my own sentiments. I actually blame rule more than agar for the current state of the club. After all, he is the one who appointed him and continues to back him. 2 very poor appoitments from the club for me which epitomise the lack of vision within the club'"

I see what you mean.
Its his job to back Agar at the moment, it was also his job to back Sharp and he did upto the board getting rid of him. Then James took on the mantle of the who had sacked him, he had in truth not of course that was higher up.
Top and bottom is that Agar will be thrown out of the lifeboat as soon as it looks like being stupid to keep him in it. Like wise James Rule and the precident there is his predecessor who was made to walk the plank for some collective cock ups.
I just think our problems are higher up the chain of command and the people who appoint these in the first place are the ones who have failed.
