| I think it shows, in my mind anyway, that TS didn't like Denise's confidence/arrogance and maybe words were exchanged which Griz has held against him despite impressive performances. Ultimately, the Denive has looked very good in these 2 games and Cartright (current SOO assistant) rates him higher than a championship experienced caretaker boss

Walker is solid and dependable nothing more - plus he has a questionable injury record.
If we don't intend to sign a quota hooker It'll release extra space to sign strike players at both centre and full back.
You have quite rightly stated the lack of pace in the backs is a concern this could address it.

I wonder if we will still sign a quota hooker or go with Bourouh, Balmforth, Smith with Hodgson continuing his development?'"
Course they do ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

That was this year. He signed for two years with an option for a third year which was triggered for 2024.

We all have different opinions on some players but Walker is more than solid and dependable.
He has pace and is a quality full back but playing in a deadfull team like he has done hardly did him any favours.
At least Moy has had some protection from an improved, fitter team and better defence whilst he has played full back.
Think Walker will get another run in the team but whether he stays is another matter as its reported the club are actively seeking another full back
If he goes then i agree we need a quality full back but if he stays still think adding some pace and strike at centre is a priority.
This could end up being another Balmforth situation where Walker comes back in,plays well in a better team and the club do another u turn and decide not to sign a full back

| Glad to hear we have signed Balmforth, though it’s only a year hopefully we have another year in the clubs favour.
Whats interesting is that Cartwright as the incoming Coach seems to have had a large influence in the decision. I would assume he has watched both games along with video from training sessions and likes what he sees in Balmforth as a player to work with. No doubt he’ll have an idea as to the ability of Rimbu too so assume he sees Balmforth as a better option.
It’ll be interesting to see how Balmforth improves not just from until the end of the season but also under the guidance of Cartwright once he gets here.
In regards to Walker Grix seemed to talk him up earlier this week so not sure what the situation is. I think Moy has been good so far and definitely one for the future but do think Walker is better option and would to see how well he goes on the team after the upturn in team performances.
Must say I’m a little more buoyed for 2025 by the impact and influence Cartwright is seemingly having on team affairs.

| Well done Myler and Cartwright for extending Balmforths deal….Who will Grix now call out in the papers, not said anything about more established players who have faults but doesn’t mind saying about younger players.Hopefully this may see him go at the end of the season as well .

Fullback is probably the easiest position to recruit top quality. It’s obvious the focus has been on bringing in solid players we need a bit of flair and pace I wouldn’t worry about the position. Nearly every NRL club has a top class fullback so there’s some real quality players not first choice, look at the lad Leigh have managed to sign. I’d imagine whoever we sign as the fullback might be able to play as a 6 and possibly at centre as a lot of modern fullbacks can, that might be important.

| Great news now its confirmed although nothing from the club so far but another good move from Myler, we all know just by sitting in the stands that Balmforth is a great prospect. The way that things change with quota spots and such developments as that unfolding now with the guy from PNG show what a state of flux we are in at present as we strive to get the best mix for next year and some on here should hold their horses a bit whilst the full picture of all signings made and all quota spots filled is completed. But, as I've said from the moment his move was confirmed how much easier it would have been if we'd just kept Sneyd and built around him. Personally as a guy who wants a team to support until I expire I'd still like some indication of developments on getting conformation of investment and additional involvement at the top, however the best news for me is that 'Cartwright is in daily touch with the Club' . Can't wait to get him here.

Considering he will have been in Origin camp for a week or so it’s very encouraging that he’s keeping in contact with the club and getting involved in player decisions.

Would agree 100%, and think it shows that Myler (whatever any thoughts were as fans on his appointment) seems to be handling the rebuild/overhaul of the club pragmatically and sensibly. He also seems very conscientious and willing to speak with a discuss things with the people that matter but most importantly listen to them. It would also appear he isn't afraid to make the tough decisions that are and will be needed on the road to recovery for the club.
As a fan that has wobbled and wondered about walking due to the utter despair I have felt, I find it reassuring that in Cartwright we have a Coach who has been and still is heavily involved at the top of the Australian game and although he doesn't officially start yet he is already very much an active and involved party to the current transition.
On your point re Sneyd I don't think it would be a stretch to assume that the decision on Sneyd was probably made more out of financial reasons than anything. If AP was having to cut back then its probably fair to say we most likely couldn't have given Sneyd a lengthy deal or brought in the players to build around that were needed such were the financial constraints at the time or looming up.
I think right here and now its a time to feel genuinely hopeful for the future and be positive about the changes being made.

In all seriousness who was the last regular starter they produced?
Lewis COHA, Litten, Hadley, Brown from us.

| Really pleased that Balmforth has had his contract renewed. He's a gamebreaker, this type of player brings confidence to the team, without his input vs Leeds and Warrington, i doubt we'd see the improved morale. Thankfully Cartwright has seen the raw potential of this player, and given a real preseason, amongst other players, their is potentially a group of good players, hopefully with a new backroom staff.
The No 3 for NSW, doesn't look a bad player, maybe Hoss can bring him here as well, we could do with a decent left centre.
