| Glad he's staying. Honestly expected he would leave and wouldn't have blamed him as he's coming to an age now where he needs to be playing more regularly.
It's good to hear Cartwright has had a big input into the decision.
Does anybody think Houghton should be offered an off field role somewhere? I'm abit torn on it as he has never been the most dynamic, creative hooker, but his work off the ball has always been first class, and that's an area Balmforth has been mentioned as needing to improve. Houghton could be good for the development of Balmforth, Bourouh and Hodgson.

it would only be a part time thing at best for Houghton as I think he's set up a business.

Dont think Tinkering Tony or Grix rated him and couldnt get out of the Danny Houghton mode
He is still only 20 so has a lot of time to develop other weaker aspects of his game.
Looks like his last two perfomances have forced the club into acting.
Left to Grix i dont think the club would have signed him

I posted a few years back on the importance of producing our own players and it’s obvious sustainability, we actually need to get to a system when other clubs want our players, and be able to replace them from within.
We can have another look at Denieve next year, and with the addition of Amir, and the emergence of Hodgson and others it’s the right path.
As we have decided to not pursue the Papuan hooker, and according to the club a full back is being looked at, probably to replace the unlucky Jack Walker, which is a shame as Walker has never let us down.'"
Unless Walker has specifically asked to leave then i find wanting to sign another full back just another illogical signing when surely some pace and strike at centre is badly needed,as is another second row
If Walker stays then we have Walker,Moy.Litten and Hardaker who can all play full back

Would've liked a 2 year deal tbh. He'd still only be 22 by the time it expired. Happy he's staying and that Cartwright has had a big stay in it.

| I think it shows, in my mind anyway, that TS didn't like Denise's confidence/arrogance and maybe words were exchanged which Griz has held against him despite impressive performances. Ultimately, the Denive has looked very good in these 2 games and Cartright (current SOO assistant) rates him higher than a championship experienced caretaker boss

Walker is solid and dependable nothing more - plus he has a questionable injury record.
If we don't intend to sign a quota hooker It'll release extra space to sign strike players at both centre and full back.
You have quite rightly stated the lack of pace in the backs is a concern this could address it.

I wonder if we will still sign a quota hooker or go with Bourouh, Balmforth, Smith with Hodgson continuing his development?'"
Course they do

That was this year. He signed for two years with an option for a third year which was triggered for 2024.

We all have different opinions on some players but Walker is more than solid and dependable.
He has pace and is a quality full back but playing in a deadfull team like he has done hardly did him any favours.
At least Moy has had some protection from an improved, fitter team and better defence whilst he has played full back.
Think Walker will get another run in the team but whether he stays is another matter as its reported the club are actively seeking another full back
If he goes then i agree we need a quality full back but if he stays still think adding some pace and strike at centre is a priority.
This could end up being another Balmforth situation where Walker comes back in,plays well in a better team and the club do another u turn and decide not to sign a full back
