That'll be the Costello that was dismissed as a possibile location for the KC as it was unlikely to get planning permission.
When the KC was proposed, there was no firm plan, just an agreement in principle. Locations and then designs needed costing out within an existing budget, yet for some reason people want every I dotted and T crossed at such an early stage with this one.

It being the statement that, as well as offering a site that's a non-starter, had other elements, like "they'll drive the rugby out in 15 months" shown to be nonsense? The one that shifted from the Fair to the Rugby as reasons why Walton Street couldn't be considered, even though it's not in one persons power to refuse it?
Debate via the HDM is a pretty amateurish way of dealing with deals of this value. I'm sure it won't have gone un-noticed by other potential investors.

Give me your house freehold and I'll raise a mortgage against it and with the money build another one in your garden. If you have a mortgage on your house please settle that first before you give me the freehold.
You can continue to rent your existing house from me (100 year lease guaranteed whilst I'm solvent) and I'll move somebody in to the new house in the garden when it's ready to keep you company. I'll even try and get a tenant in who supports City.
If it doesn't work out for me and I hit hard times and go bust you and your mate in the garden house will have to deal with my mortgage providers to discuss where you might be able to live.
Call it my gift to you if you like.
PM me for further details if interested.'"
I don't think that caravans on travellers sites have freehold

Difference is that the council were using their own land and their own money.
Maybe a solution to all of this would be for the ownership of the land, stadium and resulting development to be in the hands of some not for profit organisation with a board of trustees representing the council, the allams and other interested parties?
It's the gifting of a valuable public asset to an individual that is the real crux of the matter here

| Quote: My Uncle Harry "Then your feeling would be wrong.
My opinion's nothing to do with wether I'm a football fan, it's based on being a proud citizen of Hull. If someone wants to discuss a £150 million proposal that could well lead to further inward investment, I think the civic leaders should be capable of listening with an open mind and seeing if there's room for negotiating a decent deal for all parties, not slamming the door shut after the first meeting.'"
If I just tell them I've got £150m to invest, will they listen to me? Or will they make me prove it with costed proposals/estimates and evidence of where the money is (or where it can be obtained from if its not already held)? A reasonable fag packet plan would be OK, presumably, or could I go in like Dragon's Den and just make it all up?
He is after all, asking the council to give him something on the basis that he will follow up. There appears to be no commitment or plans from him to actually do so.
Unless I'm wrong, and it does happen, the council have also seen no evidence of any funds other than what Allam has "told" them, via the HDM mostly, it seems.
As a proud citizen of Hull, you should be a little relieved that the council appear to be acting reasonably diligently in their rejection of the "plans".
Nothing to stop Allem approaching them again of course, but if he doesn't come up with something a bit more concrete, they'll be fully justified in throwing him through the door, never mind slamming it.

| If Hull City were to get they hands on the KC Stadium Owning the Stadium
it would push up the value of Hull City only. That would be a valuable asset for them.
Mr Allam has a very successful business which is worth a lot of money .Let him sell that to get the cash
for his dream and if it go wrong it's only his dream that goes up in smoke and NOT
the Tax payers of Hull if he doesn't like it not getting his hands on the KC Stadium.
He can build his own Stadium with his own Assets .Don't get fooled by people
offering false gifts .

| I think we would all love Hull to have a genuine 150m investment, olympic facilites etc etc etc. Noone would argue with this. If Allam had the right plans I would support them. Clearly though he wants something for nothing, unless he can counteract that statement. Allam will destroy the city in a sporting sense IMO as he really doesn't have a clue. City fans at work were really for this originally, and rightly so, but his lunatic ramblings have brought common sense to them.

Oh really! You turn up, out of the blue, on a rugby forum, wearing your Tiggers shirt and assert that the Hull City Council should gift ownership of the KC stadium to the owners of Hull City Football Club?

Now, that is a request I would only expect from a person with the mental orientation that Standee suggested you possess.

Come back when you find where I assert that the Council should gift ownership to anyone at all.

No they weren't and it wouldn't make any difference.
Your solution is a posibility and certainly worth a discussion, if only someone hadn't locked a door that needed to be opened.
If gifting is on the agenda, then yes it could be the crux, as it isn't....

As it stands, he's not asking the Council to give him something. He's proposed a joint venture, one possible option within it has a suggestion for how the Council could pay for its share. Another would be for the Allams to buy the stadium complex (at what seems an inflated price) and the council to use that money to buy a share.
If you went to the Council with a £150 million scheme, I'd expect them to listen and to weigh up the options, but if you think these sort of schemes start of with anything other than broad generic values based on previous builds, there's little wonder you're confused.
As for being diligent, not even listening properly and discussing the options on an area that's going to need funding is far from that.

One elected member of the Council has made the unilateral decision that the land's not for sale, which is surprising as his own leader had previously suggested a discussion to hear the options and a referendum. As it stands, no offers of any kind either of gifts or purchases have been made, merely a broad outline of a proposed concept.
