Quote: HFC Boy "Opinions as you say do differ . My opinion is we showed more willing to throw the ball about on Sunday than we did under Sharp .
The last try showed that . The amount of times we got rid of the ball at the tackle must have been more than the previous games put together.
I hope Agar will Coach a more expansive style than Sharp`s boring NRL style.'"

And I disagree. I think we've played better in attack this season, and threw the ball around just as much at Widnes and for parts of Hudds at home and Quins away. The difference on Sunday was that we didn't drop the ball as much while doing so.

The other main difference on Sunday was a much better performance by the forwards, giving us a little more opportunity to move the ball than has been the case too often this season.

I think people were looking for certain differences on Sunday and convinced themselves that they saw them. Human beings are good at that.

I'd love us to start playing an expansive and exciting style of RL. In fact I think we need to or crowds could drop. I'm not convinced that Agar will necessarily do that - he's spent the last four years working with coaches that didn't, after all - and I'm also not convinced that we have the players to carry it off anyway.

Quote: Jake the Peg "It's madness driven by greed on the part of the board. Very short sighted of them. if things don't improve this season under agar then pass sales, merchandise sales, sponsorship and matchday corporates will all go down for next year. The money saved by appointing an unknown will be dwarfed by the amount they'll lose, but maybe being hit in the pocket is the only way they'll realise what needs to be done.

Appointing a new coach is always a risk and the current board have got it wrong on the last 2 occassions by appointing 2 assistant coaches in kear and sharp, neither of whom were good enough. Another couple of years of the club going backwards could set us back for a long time to come. They should have appointed a coach with a proven track record at the highest level'"

Maybe at the same time as next season's shirt launch and the release of the season passes, they will cunningly have us linked with every world star from AUS, NZ, GB and the SOO series and then when everyone has been conned for what they can afford to spend, just say sorry and release the signings of a couple of average, over the hill aussies !!!!

NO THEY WOULDN'T DO THAT WOULD THEY ???? icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

I feel very bemused and perplexed by this appointment.

The board's common sense is mind boggling to say the least.

Had Sharp departed the club, when the club ,was on a high, then the appointment of an untried No2,could have been justified.

I feel, this is not the time to appoint a coaching team, with very limited experience.

The current situation at the club, needed a complete overhaul,
as Sharp and Agar are equally culpable in the demise of a side, which has fallen from grace, so dramatically.

Other sides have has lengthy injuries, this season - but they havent lost their attacking structure.

It will be interesting,to see how many season tickets are renewed for next season.

I can't see how the club, can attract the same level of interest ,from the public, there is not a lot of room on the quota, to deliver a signing, who would capture the fans imagination.

It looks ,as if the 'trip' to Australia, was to establish a link to players agents,as the board knew, the incoming coach,is not known to players or agents in the NRL.

Thoroughly 'underwhelmed' again!! icon_rolleyes.gif

He wont be able to build a team to challenge in 2 and a half years especially on our budget, we have too many average players contracted and taking up quota spots,The board have already showed the they are fickle and impatient I get the feeling that if we are not challenging within 2 years the board will push Agar and we would be back to square one yet again.

Do not fear !! the famous JR pre-season media bandwagon will roll into town and save the day. Season passes will go through the roof again once that has kicked in !! icon_rolleyes.gif

I wouldnt really read too much into not being able to attract quality Aussies becuase Agar is unknown, at the end of the day they will go were the money is reagrdless, but we have proved that even with an Aussie coach we have not being willing to match what other clubs can offer.

Agreed, but I think his appointment demonstrates the positive side of the franchising arrangements. I have no doubt we'd have brought in another highly paid dour Aussie if there was the threat of relegation, but longer term security takes away that pressure and I think it's a brave move.

I agree there's nothing he can do this season, but we've got 8 players OOC with undecided futures - plenty of room here for Agar to start to build his own squad either in terms of retention or replacement.

4 of those players are English props.

With very little flexibility for manoevure on the quota,

How many available British props could do a better job, than Carvell King and Thackray?

To be fair, the word available is erroneous, there are few top quality British forward kicking around.
