| I wonder how this bitEarlier this week, a full meeting of the council backed a motion effectively spelling out the authority's position over the stadium.
The motion said the council was not prepared to sell the freehold interest in either the stadium or the Walton Street fairground site to Hull City owner Assem Allam without a "robust" offer and business case being put forward.[/i
Sits with Uncle Harry's assertion that the whole thing was decided by Councillor Gerraghty?

I somehow doubt it. He's become something of an expert in answering questions that were never asked, while avoiding those that have been asked of him. Over the last week or so, I've sometimes felt I've been living in a parallel universe

You need to look up what assertion means. I've seen you use it a couple of times and each time had little substance if you're using it properly.
As for the section you've highlighted, it more contradicts your position than the one you keep trying to claim is mine. It also says it's a decision based on recommendation for a position, but doesn't say who proposed the motion.
These errors of yours probably explain why you need to make odd claims about my position in all this, despite me spelling it out several times.

The one thing I find odd is your continued assertion that it was Gerraghty who single-handedly blew Allam out of the door. Or have you changed your mind since then?

Seriously though, if a (presumably) quorate council meeting backed a motion by the required majority, that's pretty much the council's position as a body.
So the council (not just Geraghty) are singing from the same hymn sheet and the ball is firmly in Allam's squash court. I expect once he's put his toys back in his pram, he'll be back with another proposal. After all, he wants the KC doesn't he?

So why mention the bit I underlined at all? As I said, if the council back the recommendation, it's irrelevant.

Hardly, given the point I was responding to and the way these things work.

Apart from all the times you've heavily intimated that it was a single councillor who had thrown out a deal with Allam without the support of other councillors or his party leader you mean?

| Quote: barham red "Why hold a referendum, the elected councillors have made a decision from a position of far greater knowledge than the man on the street. Referendums are a pure cop out by the politicians.
If the public of Hull vote to back Allam will that make his lack of plans any more substantial??
This is a similar issue to the vote on the EU, asking the general public (a high % of which aren't the brightest) to cast a vote on something they either don't understand, or that their understanding comes from a great source like the Sun, is ludicrous.
All referendums are decided by which way the media decides it wants them to go rather than the decision which is for the good of the public.'"
I believe it was the Lib Dems that moved the motion for a full council meeting with regards to a referendum (muddying the waters somewhat). Agree with your comments, it's an utter waste of time and money when more important issues need addressing in this city.

There is nothing more important than Allam's dream - FACT
If those stupid councillors would only realise that once the Sporting Village is built, all will be well within the City & County of Kingston upon Hull. Coucil tax will plummet because there will be no need for a police force, the courts will resemble a public library, not that we'll be needing any public libraries because all the kids will be in school (when they're not playing squash at the Sporting Village), learning that squash is the way forward. Vandalism will cease overnight, kids will be playing sport (squash hopefully), in the Sporting Village. Hull FC will change its name to Hull Rugby League Football and Squash Club. Hull City will announce they have sold 37,000 season tickets, just prior to playing the newly-combined Manchester United and City teams in the Charity Shield.
Siemens will not come to Hull because all the available land will have been snapped up by even higher tech industries, we shall become known as The Silicon Estuary. People across the City will be humming the sort of music that used to be played in the lifts in Hammonds and butterflies and bluebirds will flit in all the streets.
Allam will be rightly recognised by receiving the Nobel Peace Prize, the Nobel Committee will inaugurate a new prize for sporting excellence and Mr Allam will receive it in perpetuity.
All it takes is a little foresight and imagination.
I think I can hear matron and the rattle of the tea cups and medicine dispensing, I'd best be off now.
