Seems about right to me. I think the timing is good, as well. We've had Tickle's best years and he does seem to be increasingly injury prone. I'd have been disappointed if we'd have given him a new three year deal. Hope he gets back to full fitness and does ok at Widnes though.

Have to say I dont go along with you BBM. As Carl has mentioned and I am pretty sure that Danny made a request to leave for family reasons a long while ago and seem to remember AP commenting on it when all the rumour was flying around even before last season.
I'm sure I remember AP saying he'd spoken to Danny and understood his position and would try and work a deal out for him to extend his contract. The club and AP I believe have always known this but got him to see out his contract and hoped they could persuade him to re sign. Lets be honest any transfer fee for him last season would have been minimal anyway with a year left on his contract.
It may well be a case of they club decided a while back that they had to look elsewhere and have used the time to do so under the radar so to speak.
All in all Danny has been very professional and upfront from the off and although i would have preferred he stayed I think a 3 year deal is maybe one year too many for us to have offered anyway.

| Good luck to him, been a good servant to the club, but at the same time it feels like the right time for both Danny & HullFC to move on and look to the future.

Spot on. It happens in /rl all the time, clubs just accept it and fair play to /danny for having the professionalism to work hard every week

| Good luck to him, he's been a cracking player for us and is well up there in the all time club scorers list.
Great memories of his two quick tries in the 2008 semi final and his drop goal to beat Saints in 2010.

Spot on.
Think a few people have either forgotten how good a fit Tickle is or have decided he's poor because he's leaving.

And the penalty from the touchline against Crusaders which made Brian Noble blow a gasket

| Good solid player who did his job well for us. One of the best goal kickers we have had. Good luck to him for the future. Like someone said early he's been playing for a long time and maybe injuries are starting to catch with him now. A bit like Horney.

Rubbish. Just because people dont think he should walk back into the side doesnt mean they are bitter.
He is a good player but not a gamebreaker. We have hardly missed him this season, Id rather we continue the development of Pitts and Westerman. Rather see Tickle then Galea though.

There is a difference between a player like Whitehead, who wants out before the end of his contract, to that of any player who is moving on at the end of his contracted time.

Christ, you really are quite backward aren't you.
Are you suggesting that because he didn't accept a contract offer he should have been discarded, even with over 12 months left?
If so, you are not backward, you are just plain stupid.
Perhaps if lynch had not accepted a contract extension last season he should have been sold? Why not go one further and suggest that Rich Swain was never really that committed as he had the audacity to retire.

I understand this and that is why I havent gone off on one demanding he never plays again for us. I do however think it would be more beneficial to the sqaud if we focused on players who are in our future. Id play Tickle if we needed him but not at the expense of Westy or Pitts.

I'd agree about Westerman and Pitts. But I am a firm believer in playing your best players as and when available. It's probable that when tickle is fit, he will be played off the bench. If he comes out, has a blinder and kicks perfectly, it would be difficult to leave him out. With his kicking ability alone he'd be worth a starting spot in games which might be considered to be a close contest.

| Hope all goes well for him at Widnes. I do feel we've seen the best in him as injuries starting to creep into his game now.
But only think we will miss for defo is his Goal Kicking.
