Quote: thehullwhitestar " What was wrong with waiting a month or two in order to see where we were with regard to results and performances ? As someone has already said, we have very much a season defining month ahead of us after which a more justified decision could have been made.
'"

Agree with that the decision has been made too early especially in light of the inconsistencies of performance in recent times.

Quote: Chris71 "Listening to his pre match and post match interviews the lack of passion and any sort of desire is frightening, I hate to think how rivetting his team talks must be! And we wonder why the teams over the last few seasons seem to have had a lack of motivation.'"

I actually don't have a problem with the way he comes over in the media. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with how he is at training sessions or team talks - some people just don't shine in the media spotlight.

I'm sure I could find the money somewhere if it meant watching a team coached by Des Hasler

Looking at the award of a 2yr deal for Agar I really cant see what the board have seen in him or what he has done to actually EARN another 2 years.
We are a club with everything else on the up except on the pitch and yet the board just seem happy to settle for mediocrity AGAIN!!
After looking forward to a new start this season after the clear out and the arrival of Long, Fitz, O'Meley and Moore I am now thinking and feeling that this season is going to be another we will want to forget.

Quote: hullbg "I have been on the fence regarding Agar for a while now and to be frankly honest he has done nothing for me to get off the fence and in his corner and i suspect the majority of the fans feel exactly the same way. So for the club to extend his contract for a further 2 years is nothing short of a disaster PR wise.'"

And yet, as pointed out elsewhere, we have record season pass sales, fantastic crowd numbers, and merchandising flying out of the door - all with RA in charge. In some ways you can't blame the BOD for not seeing a pressing urgency for change or assuming that the [imajority[/i of fans are happy with the status quo.

Quote: Staffs FC "All record 9,500 season ticket holders who all bought their tickets when Agar was in charge you mean ? Plus the 3000 or so walk ups that haven't seen a home defeat yet this season ?

I respect your opinion but don't lose sight of the facts.'"

That's kind of what I'm getting at though. Season pass sales went up on the basis of a sustained media spin campaign to absolve Agar of any blame for the decline during his reign up to that point, alongside the announcement of some admittedly top class signings for the season ahead.

The problem is though that with the club doing well financially not being seen to spend the full salary cap wouldn't be tolerated by fans, yet the club can spend what they like on a coach and are doing all they can to keep the cheap option in place. That's the cynical part of it.

Yes but you know as well as i do that those season passes were bought on the back of a good recruitment drive and the release of a lot of deadwood. If we have another poor season those record pass sales will drop dramatically.

I think dramatically is a tad OTT, but i get your point. Next years recruitment was going to be tough regardless of who was in charge, when you take into account quota rules and top English talent already signed up.

Wokun up to find that, after all, this is true and not someone playing silly beggers.

Let's just get behind the team, yeh? Derby is tomorrow, they need our support.

I expect us to be in the market for a number of changes at the end of this season as well, this time among the backs. Another couple of good signings would probably see the pass sales hold up.

Cynical, or putting the financial well being of the club first? Even when you consider we have made profit for a few years we are still in debt, so you can't blame the board for wanting to take the cheap option.

As for the actual appointment I posted my views last night and I still feel the same. He is young and inexperienced and is learning all the time. He's a good guy and the players are on his side. I will wait until the end of the season before passing a proper judgement. If we have another poor season then I agree it have been a bad decision. But if we come top 6, win a playoff or 2 and do okay in the cup then you can't really argue with the decision to keep him again.

I think this shows that he was England's first choice too. I can't see why else the club would have moved so early. Also, now the coach is in place I imagine we will start to see some recruitment for next year in the next couple of months.

I think we need to put this to bed until after the weekend and support out team in the next 2 games and see what happens.

They arent going to change their minds now.

Like the players we need to focus on tomorrows game.

Should have been a 1 year contract at most though.

Good summing up. As I've said I think the decision was a month too early but maybe for the reason you suggest.
