I will judge him when we get two good halfbacks on the field at the same time, we had two 2nd rowers playing in that position against KR, how the hell was we expected to win.

For the past 5 years we have begged for a top number 7 and until we get a creative player we wont be Top 4 or lookinig at this season Top 8.

I still think we have the right man, look how he as improved our youth in the future years that will benefit us.

We just need to give the man a Top number 7, not like we didnt try last year to get one but now we need to try harder.

You have to question why the only recognised half on the pitch played at FB though, surely?

Indeed, and I can't see that changing in 2014 I am afraid, lack of supply and some deep rooted issues within FC seem to be preventing much progress.

He certainly has spent a lot of Pearson's money on building the youth development, hard to say wether a different coach would have done similar. I have had suspicions for a while that PG is actually here to build the team an club for the future, and McRae is actually dealing with first team matters, but I have no proof, just a funny feeling.

A top 7 wont cover the lack of agression in the forwards, the apparent inability to execute what we practice on the training pitch, our inability to take the high ball, the slow play the ball, the general inability to pass etc etc.

Our lack of a 7 is an issue, but it's not our only issue.

i understand the fact we need a 7 but i think that is papering over other issues.even at amature level if our scrum half was injured we never stopped doing everything else.if anything you would try to do a bit more to help the stand in out like at least make sure you new who was putting the kick in on last tackle.when green or smith are out does everyone stop giving sean o'lock options or do they stick to the structure they have played to for seasons.we may work hard in defence but without doubt the laziest attacking team in league

Quote: classov78 "so horny played most his career at 7 plus whiting signed as a 6 and azza good enough last season are not halfbacks.not the best granted but good enough to beat london and rovers with the right coaching and game plan . didnt we beat hudds in playoffs with horn n azza?'"

Huddersfield were in free fall when we played them in the playoffs, we'd have beaten them with what we had out on Friday. Whiting hasn't been a 6 for a considerable amount of time, and has spent the last two years trying to bulk up for the 2nd row. As for Horne, he may have worn the 7 shirt before but he's never been a SH.

i think hornes been a good 7 at times for hull over the years but that is alongside the likes of cooke,j smith, swain.all people who had the ability, desire and mainly bottle to drag a team through adversity to get the result.horne has probaly been our best player for a large part this season but he needs help from all the team.those other players demanded the best from everyone else and more often than not got it.horne is'nt that figure head.

Interesting viewpoint, but if it is true that Gentle has been told to sort the club out from the ground up, and go for the short-term pain, long-term gain option....then why haven't the club been honest about this? We've been told that we want top4 rugby, that most of the signings are 'internationals' that we wanted 10K passholders to see it all etc

I know saying that 'we're going to be rubbish for a few years more because we are training up the kids' doesn't sell tickets, but we wouldn't be seeing 'Gentle Out' threads like this if the club hadn't hyped everything up.

Dont disagree with any of that but we need a number 7 that is the root of a lot of our problems, we are not letting teams score a lot of points and several times this year we would have won the games if we had a bit of skill at 7.

With a consistent trend of McRae sides being all about trying to throw the ball about and attacking but being lazy in defence, and us currently being the exact opposite, that makes perfect sense, honest.

The guy is clueless in what to do to even get us doing the basics and is showing this week on week as he has no idea how to turn it round. That team on paper should of nuked Rovers but looked devoid of anything apart from Horne/Whiting

How anyone can defend him is beyond me but no doubt the usual Agar/Sharp/Hetherington/Rule lovers will be along shortly'"

It is rare that you have the opportunity to read such childish drivel by someone who obviously has little grasp of the game and the transfer market. I DO blame Rule/Agar for leaving the club so lacking in resources, a position which the current regime have to deal with.
I would like to know what this person thinks the dismissal of Peter Gentle would actually achieve ?
Pathetic

First there was wisdom Then there was knowledge Now there is only information:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_17490.jpg

I seriously doubt another coach could do any better with the players we currently have available. Unless we can find a new coach who can bring a couple of half backs with him, I think we should stick with Gentle, at least until the end of the season.
