Quote: giddyupoldfella "So let's talk about Saints missing players. Just 3 weeks ago they had some top players out and were nilled 19 nil, by an apparently very poor team that need to sack their coach.

How did Saints get on at relegated London last season, when they were without a few of their star men? They got beat.

And you give Wigan as an example. This time last year, Wigan were bottom of the table. Guess what their fans were saying? That's right, sack Lam.'"

Well that was premature by the Wigan fans wasn't it! A bit like us asking Pearson to sack Radford in 2013, in his first season like Lam was in. What we are doing now in effect is like the Wigan fans asking the board to sack Lam in 2026 after years of under performance.

You are really picking bad examples as comparisons. A better example would be Leeds. Massive success (definitely more so than back to back cup wins that we had), yet their performances and the coaches stubbornness to refresh his squad and change the style ultimately led to his sacking.

But Radford has refreshed, and when the likes of Satae, Savelio, Sao, Jones and Ma'u (his new look pack) have only played once together, then how can you really judge it? I suppose you can judge it off the one game they did play together.how did that one go?

We can judge it, because the style of play hasn't changed. Defensive structures still leave wingers exposed. Defensive structures mean we still give away far too many metres in defence as there is no line speed. We are still incapable of being a threat in the opposition 20 as the supply from DH is too slow, and not accurate enough. Sneyd doesn't engage the line. Shaul cannot time his run or learn how to put supply out to the centre and winger.

These are spine players that have remained consistent through Radford's tenure. Satae, Sao and Ma'u played yesterday and played very well - but we still lost due to the faults that we have had for years, these players cannot change that.

Here's a question for you taking out injuries/suspensions for the minute would honestly say that the performances over the last 4 games have been good enough and to a satisfactory standard?

The thing is with giddyupoldfella I've noticed is that he will always enjoy the victories as we all do but look for justification for our losses and poor performances.

It's almost if injuries and suspensions only effect Hull.

We are spending way over cap, have recruited some real quality but yet still churn out performances like yesterday.
It is just history repeating itself with the same old failings.
The playing personnel have changed several times in Radford's tenure but yet our playing style, fitness and mental fragility have not.
Time for a fresh start but unfortunately Radford seems to be made of Teflon. Always the players or fans at fault.

I do think Radford is on thin ice. Next 3/4 matches IMO will decide if he's still here. Maybe it is time for a fresh coach. But yest I blame the players. No matter who is coach the players on the field should see that game out. Also need a chance of captain as again we just needed a voice on the field. As I said earlier Sneyd was not a happy bunny at the end as i believe he saw that kick coming but nobody reacted

Well let's do a little five game review.

Leeds away. One of our greatest victories of all time on that ground.

Hull KR home. Short turnaround, always an emotionaly different game, Rovers had a real dig at ud, but we got the job done.

St Helens home. Best team in the comp, we matched them well in the first half, we gave them cheap possession by kicking the ball out on the full and the good team that they are punished us for it.

Wigan away. A bit of a flat performance by us, but even so we were still in the game for most of it, they took their chances better than we did on the day, maybe due to them being that little bit more crisper with their passing.

Catalans home. Dominated possession and territory early in the game, but couldn't register points, got caught with two tries against us against the run of play, then put 24 unanswered points on them, then the players decided they'd won and put the cue on the rack. We composed ourselves again to take the lead with 2 minutes to go, and then a freak of a player came up with a big play for them.

A good politicians answer there but not actually answered the question I posed.

No, if you have been reading, I haven't said that injuries only affect us, I also pointed out times where injuries affected St Helens, and I can add Wakefield to that, who were looking a good team until the lost the likes of Johnstone, Tupou and Fifita.

Just seen the stat of home wins/losses since June 2018

Won 9 out of 25 home games since June 2018.

In those wins, 2 have been against Rovers and 1 against London when we were winning 34-0 at half time and were hanging on in the 2nd half

So basically we have only won a 1/3rd of our home games since June 2018, loosing 2/3rds? That is a very poor stat and ultimately damaging to the club in terms of regaining and growing the core home support.

Maybe, but two victories on the board, in a a fairly tough opening run of games, where we've only been able to manage having 5 players ever present, 6 with Lane.

In the next 6 games, we have Wakefield, Salford, Huddersfield, Rovers and Toronto. The first five favourites for the wooden spoon. On paper, a much easier run of games. We also play Wire at home. It certainly looks like an opportunity to put a fair few more points on the board. And if we can do well over the next 6, we'll be pushing at the top end of the table, where we wanna be. So let's see where we are then, before we press the panic button.
