| Quote: R.B.A "Agree 100%. Hull have set him back in his development by not letting him grow as a player at his own pace. By way of comparison look at Liam Salter today. You will have seen them both play at junior level Marfa and know how much more highly rated Reece was. Both played their first Academy game in 2009 but Salter didnt play a first team game against Super League opposition till last week. I think its fair to say on todays performance that he is now far ahead of Reece in his development.'"
TBF I personally rated Salter higher, but you are right he has been rushed and put on a pedestal which has not helped by all accounts!
I still think he has potential but he needs shipping out, I think Agar was desperate to be seen as developing youth tbh and saw Reece as an option.

You might be right, I don't disagree. However he is the best 6 we have at the club and I want to see how him and Seymour get on.

| Quote: PAUL M "So Horne has not had a good game for two seasons... really. You've not been watching then.
Was he poor today, yes however so was Lynch, Hermaia, Yeaman I could go on. Calling for them to be dropped? No thought not.
Gentle has decided that Horne and Seymour are his preferred halfback pairing for now and they will need time to cement a partnership. After just one game I am sure he won't be ditching one of them, thankfully he's the coach and you're not.'"
If you read the whole thread instead of jumping in (not surprised at that though) you will realise I have said Horney produces a handful of decent games a season. Basically we get the odd glimpse of excellence but I am afraid this is not good enough at this level, as our results have proven. We now have options in the h/backs and Horney should be made to fight for his shirt, something he has never done, this may actually improve his consistency who knows.
Yeamo and Brisco where pants! however they have offered more than a handful of decent games last season!
Hermeia offered very little, but we have Houghton who offered a lot more so Hermeia needs to up his game to get on the pitch!
Lynch is in a better position not dissimilar to what Horney has been in for the last 2 years in that we have very few options in that department so we can only hope he ups his performance

Ellis and Nicklas have potential but that's all it is. When they come on the pitch and prove it I will judge them.
I can't judge them until that happens.

To claim our players would be envious of the Rovers support or be affected by people in the home stands leaving early at a friendly game is both very naive and possibly very wishful thinking.
Glad it meant so much to Kris Welham when they scored their third try though. He should make the most of moments of pure elation like that while he can.'"
Here's lies the difference, its called passion something some of you newbie Hull fans are in short supply of.

I agree, and my point is I would like to see what they can do ideally next match to see if they offer better options partnered with Seymour.

My first post wasn't aimed at you, just saw some Horne to be dropped talk and reacted. We do have options, we don't know if they are good options as yet though. Horne and Seymour need to have pressure on them and the Ellis/Nicklas will provide that.
Horne has also had little in the way of a fellow half to work with in recent years and had to shoulder all the responsibilty. He now has a partner so I would like to see him try and forge a partnership not just be dropped after one friendly.
If a few games into SL he isn't playing well then drop him but give him a chance to get something going with Seymour first.

Well he had a partnership today one he has trained with for a few months and he was dire!
I disagree I think we need to utilize the friendly next week, who knows it maybe a revelation or it may not unless we try though we will not know. I also firmly believe it may do Horney some good sat on a bench, it would be a massive wake up call and like mentioned if may go towards finding some consistent form from him. I do not dislike Horney I love them man but I am being realistic he is an experienced SL player and he should have produced a hell of a lot more today considering he had a quality player next to him.

Seymour hardly pulled up trees, why does he not get dropped? Or other players who have had the same preparation has Horne? Lynch should have produced more, Briscoe should the list goes on.
If Horne and Seymour are the halves Gentle wants to play against Wire then they need to play again together v Bulls. I would play them for the first 40/50 then bring in the other two. Otherwise they go into Wire with only 60 mins behind them.
He will be pressured and rightly so, every player should be. However I will see how they both go after a few games together an not after one match. I hope Gentle does too.

| I was not there
It was a friendly
It was our first match
It means sod all come Feb 5th
Keep the faith, we have been served crap for years, been fed loads of spin, we need some time now to develope under a proper coach. Its not going to happen overnight and anyone expecting miracles is going to be very upset this is going to be a couple of season to put right. We came through he game with no injuries and the squad will gain from the day, ok they won but I want our team to win when it counts.

Seymour gets the excuse of first game for FC, to be fair to him although I saw a little from Seymour he offered a lot more than Horney today.
I think it is a good option to see how they get on for the first half but I hope if things have not improved Gentle uses other options in the game and if they work better I hope he goes into the Wire game with the best option no matter what he has stated.
