| Quote: Salford red all over "Not me I've been on here a few times in the last few years saying how average Sneyd was and you were getting our then fourth choice halfback as your main man, that never went down too well.
As it's stands now I think we are getting a guy who to be fair probably has the best kicking game in the comp who other than that offers little with ball in hand, just hope he does the kicking well and Brodie Croft runs the show.
As a side if the choice was Sneyd or wiggy from Leeds then thanks Hull.
Gale if fit is better than Sneyd, Gale had a good season in 2020, Sneyd hasn't played well consistently since 2017. We have had his best years when he played with our outstanding pack in those cup years wins, but without that type of pack he is average.
His kicking isn't as good as people think either, was poor last year, he will set up some trys with kicks, but that's because that was our only option in many games.

I'm not going to argue who's the best because I think there both pretty average, but I think you'll be holding your breath when your half backs get tackled as both are made from digestives, we'll see what happens. ![Thumbs up icon_thumb.gif](images/smilies//icon_thumb.gif)

If it happens then we have two young lads to fill it, which will be a great long term benefit.
Advantage of investing in am academy I suppose.

Agree with you about his kicking. A lot of the trys he set up with kicks when attacking the opponents line I feel was more to do with how good Connor is in the air. I appreciate Sneyd has to put the kick in the right spot to begin with, and he was good at that, but any half in the league worth their pay cheque should be able to do that from close range. Sneyd's kicks wouldn't be half as effective if it wasn't Connor they were going to. Even Swift is very good in the air for a smaller guy.

| Sneyds kicking out of hand was awful, 90 percent of the time going straight to the fullback, always seemed to be Connor who got the 40/20s or put more effective kicks in

I think (hope) there's an element of the club doing the right thing by Sneyd. I don't think he was in our plans beyond next year and with Salford offering him some security we haven't stood in his way and I think that's probably a good move for everyone involved. I think Gale will go alright for us but I see him as a stop gap signing before we bring in a big name next year.

I'm told that we have an aussie half back lined up, but he cannot be here until 2023.
I don't have any name who it is.

Well we can dream , can't we? Any one of them would do, but there's no chance of any of them coming over, Drinkwater has done his reputation the power of good last season and Brooks is a wanted man, according to the Aussie television. That's not to say we won't sign an overseas half , but it may well be of the Lovodua type, promising but not yet established. I'd go for a kiwi, if there any available, we have always had good value from them and they seem to settle much easier.
I honestly didn't see anything during games that says Mcnamara will cut it at SL level, I hope I am wrong and he must have something about him, everyone seems to be impressed, so maybe it is just a case of him growing into the role , but I seriously doubt we have a star in the making.
