| Quote: BP1 "The problem is that, unlike the period 1974 - 97, everybody's fixture list is different in terms of who you play over the course of the year. In 2024, for instance, both rovers and Warrington had a third game against both London and ourselves where as Wigan didn't (not sure who their loop games were against).
Having the league winners being declared Champions only works with an even fixture list across the competition, i.e. the 'football' model. We would need to scrap the play-offs and go back to a pre-SL league structure in order to make the 'league winners' the correctly crowned champions and I'm not sure the clubs are in favour of that.'"
I think that is the crux. I believe Wigan's loop fixtures are/were Castleford and Saints and Huddersfield.

I expect that Gale, Clifford and Brown were all given far more lucrative contracts than Sneyd would have been happy to accept to stay in Hull.

Sneyd moved back West for family reasons.

He would have stayed though.

Salford Red Devils half-back Marc Sneyd has opened up on the circumstances that led to his Hull FC exit ahead of the 2022 Super League campaign. Sneyd still had one more year remaining on his deal with the Black and Whites as he brought his seventh season with the club to an end.
However, rather than see out the remainder of his contract with Hull, he opted to bring his stay in East Yorkshire to a premature end in order to return to the club where his career began. Sneyd’s name will forever be synonymous with Hull given what he achieved at the club, winning back to back Challenge Cups and Lance Todd Trophies.
Since his move back to Greater Manchester, though, the 33-year-old has hit top form once more under Paul Rowley and earned two England caps. He’ll be pushing to add more honours to his record this season, with Salford sitting inside the top six with nine games to still to play.
Ahead of Salford’s clash with Castleford Tigers on Saturday afternoon, though, the talismanic half-back has been reflecting on the path that took him back to the club and how his time at Hull FC came to an end.
“I had one year left on my contract at Hull and I think it was very early November. We were still off for pre-season and had two weeks left,” Sneyd said while speaking on the Trot The Egg In podcast. “I was on holiday with the family, we were in Tenerife or somewhere.
“Ian Blease has belled me, which he did anyway as we always kept in touch. He asked me if I would be interested and I said ‘yeah, potentially, but let me have my holiday and I’ll get back to you when I get back’. I phoned him when I got back and asked him what was going on and he said Salford were willing to give me a three-year deal.
“At the time I was 30 and in my head I was thinking not many 30-year-olds were getting three-year deals so I went in and spoke to Hull. I was still happy at Hull, I absolutely loved it.“I spoke to the chief executive James Clark at Hull and I asked him if they were giving contract extensions out as I only had a year left and I told him about the offer from Salford for three years.
“I told James if Hull couldn’t give me an extension then I couldn’t really turn down the offer. It was three years security and there was a bonus of being able to move back to Oldham.
“They were incredible with me at Hull, they said they were not 100 per cent sure. It was a transitional period and all that and they were unsure what was going on and I told them I fully got it.
“But, Hull told me I couldn’t say no to a three-year deal. We shook hands and left on really good terms and that was that – I was training at Salford two days later.”'"

| Worth pointing out as well that in nearly three seasons there he's missed just four games. Ever present this season so far.

Maybe.... who knows? In hindsight we should've kept him.
My sister worked with Mrs Sneyd at Sirius West. I remember asking her just after Sneyd left what was going on. She mentioned that they'd moved back to Oldham around a month before the move was announced. She never mentioned it to me at the time I was fuming
Feels like we're in a similar 'post cooke' era with Sneyd too, scrambling around for a half every 1/2 years. Hopefully Abdull can be a fix for a few seasons

Think Huddersfield are in trouble next year. Robinson is L8 and W2. They've given him a 3 year deal.

Looks like less than 2000 there, not sure how much longer they have left in SL. They must be the least self sufficient club in SL.
