| Rumours are that Wakey offered him a 3 year deal. If that’s the case, no chance I’d go near him.
I believe Cust is a one year filler whilst Balmforth comes through. Perfect for us and gives us a full season to consider how those that quota spot moving forward

Reads like he could pick and choose where he wants to go, says he served his notice period. If he was coming to FC, I’m sure it would have spilled out by one of the in the knows.

Interesting interview with Marc Sneyd, regarding his departure...
https://www.seriousaboutrl.com/marc-sne ... ons-95304/
“I had one year left on my contract at Hull and I think it was very early November. We were still off for pre-season and had two weeks left,” Sneyd said while speaking on the Trot The Egg In podcast. “I was on holiday with the family, we were in Tenerife or somewhere.
Ian Blease has belled me, which he did anyway as we always kept in touch. He asked me if I would be interested and I said ‘yeah, potentially, but let me have my holiday and I’ll get back to you when I get back’. I phoned him when I got back and asked him what was going on and he said Salford were willing to give me a three-year deal.
“At the time I was 30 and in my head I was thinking not many 30-year-olds were getting three-year deals so I went in and spoke to Hull. I was still happy at Hull, I absolutely loved it.
I spoke to the chief executive James Clark at Hull and I asked him if they were giving contract extensions out as I only had a year left and I told him about the offer from Salford for three years.
“I told James if Hull couldn’t give me an extension then I couldn’t really turn down the offer. It was three years security and there was a bonus of being able to move back to Oldham.
“They were incredible with me at Hull, they said they were not 100 per cent sure. It was a transitional period and all that and they were unsure what was going on and I told them I fully got it.
“But, Hull told me I couldn’t say no to a three-year deal. We shook hands and left on really good terms and that was that – I was training at Salford two days later.”

| It was the right decision for the club and Sneyd for him to go, he was poor the two seasons before, the issue was Clarke just let him go without any thought process, if we had replaced Sneyd with someone like Clifford it would have been fine.
Poor from Clarke, I hope we don't make the same error with Trueman

| Looks like.the new quota rule won't come into play until 2026, think that probably rules out Carlos staying.
Don't like the rule personally.

Think it shows where the UK market is at. Clubs trying to find ways around quota rules

7 is definitely enough, if our overseas players were any goofed this year, we would have lose Balmforth and Moy wouldn't have played.

Agree, it's a ridiculous rule. SL will be packed with even more average overseas players hindering the progress of young prospects. It'll suit the clubs who are unwilling to invest in their academy's and frightened to give youngster's an opportunity.

| The quota is only enforceable by agreement with the clubs as it cuts across employment law so if most want to do it then it's hard for the RFL to push back but we could potentially see 10+ overseas players in a team/squad which is way too many. Even 7 is too many IMO. I know we're 11th and keep losing but we've only had 2 or 3 overseas players in games this year which has exposed younger players to more SL than we'd expect. Pros and cons with doing it but overall I think they'll be better for it

| I was hoping for a reduction in overseas players over time, not an increase. But,.it's as mentioned above, it's probably a sign of how poor the talent pool is.
I think increasing will hinder the youth, which looking across the board is looking like more sides are going down the youth route.
Wigan and saints are obviously the standouts. Wire and FC are.making massive strides. Leeds have a few trickling back in as well as Catalan,.cas and Hudds. Could be the beginning of a.golden generation in this country if the pathways aren't blokes.
A lot of the other sides such as Salford who only survive on cast offs nobody wants (that isn't a dig at all ) KR, Wakey (if they're up again next season) throwing money about like it has no meaning (again not a dig) not going down the same route. Leigh I believe have been granted permission for academy set up now, so that'll take time and money to get up and running.
So not a good move for me, invest in our own academies, our own players and as I said look at reducing overseas to 5 in the next few years
