Reckon McDonnell will be paid off without playing a game when he's fit and Colbon will cover wing. We have Rankin, Talanoa, Horne and even Whiting to cover FB. Smart move for me, we won't get value for money on McDonnell in the stands, which is where he'll be even when fit I reckon.

Do we need cover on the wing though? We have Lineham, Crookes and Talanoa with Biggs coming in. Ben Crooks and Whiting can also play on the wing I believe.

Forgot about Jason Crookes, don't know then! He may just be another body. Maybe Radford doesn't see Talanoa staying as a winger? More likely I reckon Crookes will go with McDonnell, maybe both to London too.

As it stands we only have 2 fit wingers. Whiting should never ever play on the wing again.

Can see the logic in this signing, Rovers fans rated him quite highly, but has suffered with injuries.

Dull, but possibly sensible - nominate your current highest earner as your marquee player and use the cap space on upgrades and/or 'necessary' low key signings.

Having more cap space isn't the same as having more money.

And while big names certainly excite the core support, I'm not entirely convinced they add much to the gate or merchandise sales. Willie Mason hung around just about long enough to sow that seed of doubt. Even a successful signing like Fitzgibbon, who brought plenty as player, did he bring much as a name?

I liked him - seemed a good pro and was steady. Did a decent job. I'd emphasise the 'quite' in your post though. His form dipped a bit in 2011, as did Fox's. Unless Biggs has been seriously delayed, it'd seem odd.

Possibly - our early season attendances in 2010 were very good, over 13k against Hudds, London, Cas and Bradford. We also signed Long and O'Meley for 2010 so you could argue that we had three marque(e) signings.
