but atkins isnt in the squad?

anyway yeaman will play seeing as its on his home ground next week

reed abit of a liability in defence so maybe cudjoe could come in for him, but think the back line will stay the same for next week

lets hope graham and ellis are fit

Im still struggling to see the fuss about Heighington personally....would shift Sinfield to 13 next week and start with Maguire amd Widdop in halves....Confirmed what i have always though of chase today...big fish in small pond and vastly over-rated.

Agree about Widdop, but we've no real organising scrum-half there. Unfortunately I'd be amazed if all three of Graham, Ellis and Peacock were fit. icon_sad.gif

Think we're going to be stumped in the forwards in a year or two . Alot of people seem to think we have the best pack but in my eyes we only match nz and Aussies and in some games that debatable . With peacock and Morley finished now at this level who have we coming through ? Just as we're getting the backs kind of sorted we"ll be back to square one in the pack .

For me,

Tomkins
Briscoe
Yeaman
Reed
Hall
Widdop
Chase
Graham
Roby
Peacock
Ellis
Westwood
Sinfield

Morley
Carvell
Jones-Buchanan
Heighington

I'd have Yeaman in over Cudjoe. Whilst he hasn't been amazing, he's been adequate and next week is at Hull.
Not been that impressed with Wilkin overall, he's dropped for Carvell who will add a little more power to our pack and allow Westwood to stay in the 2nd row.
JJB keeps his spot, he's been much better than I'd expected him to be when the squad was announced.
Heighington moves to the bench.
Sinfield to LF - I thought that he was great today, especially so in the 2nd half when he moved to LF. This then allows Widdop to get more time on the pitch.
Haven't been too impressed with Chase so far, he's been alright and made some good plays, but at the same time has made some baffling ones which have cost us tries. He's kept his place because I wouldn't change the halves just before such an important match.

i thought Sinfield was very poor today. is it just me? No kicking what-so-ever and he was asleep 3 times when he thought the play had finished and was looking backwards when the ball came out! Terrible! I also think Peacock has had it and Chase was useless I'd do anything to try and swap these 3 players about for next week.

Yeaman over Cudjoe all the time for me . Yeaman is better in defence . I'd would have preferred Brough over Chase also which would have relieved Sinfield to sponge duties.

6 and 6 in the halves ? Where's the creativity going to come from ?. Agreed Chase chose some wrong options today but that's more of him trying to much and players around him (notably Sinfield ) not reading his game.
Heighington has been in great form for the Tigers this season and I would have him way ahead of either JJB and Wilkin.

I thought Briscoe did OK although should have gone for the corner even though he did score. With regard to Yeaman save for one tackle on the winger he was average at best and made far too many errors for the level he was playing at.

I thought the defence of both centres was poor as they both got caught out hips facing inwards when they should have been hips facing forwards. The quality of decision making by Lockyer and Thurston made our centres defence look awful. NZ have a quality decision makers too so looks like same as this week for next week. I'm not sure about reed but its a common error on yeamans part. who to replace him with is another matter as i dont believe he'll get ommitted as the next game is at KC. Chase defending next to Yeaman didnt help and NZ will defo look to pick on them two just as Aus did. Again i dont believe he'll be ommitted either cos if macnamara had another half back in squad he believed in Sinfield would not be playing there.

I thought Yeaman and Briscoe battled out a draw with Lawrence and Uate, though I agree with others that this level is tough for Yeaman - though their aren't any alternatives and in that respect he deserves his place.

As for Chase he is a C grade at best NRL half which of course translates into an A grade Super League half. You see the same with Dobson and hopefully Seymour, who had a better NRL career than both will rip it up next season.

Yeaman made one or two errors but so did almost every other player. Briscoe needs to stop cutting in and go for the corner more.
