| Quote: Matty_HullFC "He's a very poor excuse for a centre, he has cost us a few tries this year for me. He offers little in attack and is terrible at passing to his winger. If we want to be a top 2 side we simply need players A LOT better then Horne, who, without that last name wouldn't be here for me.'"
In comparative terms, he's no more a poor excuse for a centre than Calderwood is a poor excuse for a winger or almost any other player in the team is a poor excuse for their position. You can't have a go at our top try scorer for costing us a few tries! Our entire back division (as uninspiring as they are) are playing behind a beaten pack of plodders.

| Quote: gostrider "For me....
Motu - club seem to be hiding extent of injury. Good player and would be off quota but wants to go back home (injury permitting) - Leaving
Reardon - Get Rid!!!
Craig Hall - Where gonna damage a promising kid by killing him at fullback. Needs to play centre in a good back line - keep
Raynor - Quality but poor bloke has never played with a decent centre - Keep
Tom Briscoe - Rising star - definitely keep (although we will probably bring him to our level) - keep
Calderwood - Cant fault enthusiasm. Guy thrives on chances with his pace will never get them with our HB's. Will never be a powerful 'break tackle' winger - keep
Yeamo - On his day and in right team - Class - Keep
G Horne - Not upto this level - will never win us trophies - Get Rid
R Horne - Love the guy to bits but never a HB - needs broken play to run into. Needs to be FB or centre. Static when receiving the ball, poor kick game and not a 'voice' in the team. keep but at FB
Thorman - Simply - Get Rid - Poor kick game -cannot run the line, poor full back playing scrum half
Dowes - grafter - tireless worker - cannot punch line though. Agar spells too long - Keep
King - had his day?? but only player who shows aggression - undecided?
Cusack - Too similiar to Dowes but takes up quota space - Get Rid
Thacks - Not the player of 2005 - Too many penalties, never really busts line, just runs sidewards - Get Rid
Maloney - unproven - Too early to say
Berro - World class but looks as interested as a veggie at a steak eating contest - if we cant turn around short time get rid - he wont be here for a struggle - if we get a new coach and recruit well - keep - cos hes class
Moa - Looks good - if only Agar didn't play him on an egg timer - Keep
Radford - plodder - Get Rid
Tickle - Good 2nd row forward- hard eorker but needs a quality running 2nd rower alongside - keep
Burnett - promisng - keep
Manu - Sheer quality but lacks the backs to put him in space - Keep
Washbrook - not showing quality of 3 years ago - probably due to poor coaching - get rid
Tommy Lee - shouldn't be FC class - Ged rid
Houghton - Rising star but if berro's fit and focused should be plying his trade in the reserves and as an understudy.
Whiting - great lad but injury prone - time to let him develope else where - get rid
Basically I think we need:
New coaches
R horne at FB
Raynor
New centre
Yeamo
Calderwood
New Stand off
New Scrum Half
Dowes
Focused Berro - or new hooker
New Prop
2nd rower - ideally Crocker / Manu
Tickle
Loose Man
bench off
Manu (if crocker arrives)
Lauaki (yes I'm dreaming)
Moa
New signing
Please comment
Reardon hasnt even played and you want rid...at least he is a bloody F/B.
Whiting should be kept....let him go and he will bite us on the ar$e.

Ofcourse he is, Calderwood's a proven winger, G Horne just got stuck in the centres because that's where there was a gap, he isn't a centre, he bombed a try on Friday. Him and Richard Horne cost us 2 tries against Cas, Cullen alluded to the fact they're suspect in defence (Ok maybe not the greatest mind in the world but he still knows his stuff imo).
Saints have Gidley, Leeds have Senior and we have... Graham Horne.

| Motu - Get rid
Calderwood - Should never of signed him, Get rid
Craig Hall - as a centre Time spent in reserves to try and iron out weaknessesand bulk him up. If to no avail get shot.
G Horne - last couple of seasons played well but not the type of player we require to go places. Get Rid
Thorman - Should never of bought him, get rid
King - had too many chances over the years shows glimpses here and ther but time to go. Get rid
Cusack - Dowes esque, good servant no new deal though. Get rid
Radford - time to part company. Get Rid
Tommy Lee - Get rid
Reardon - Not sure yet, we'll have to see what he produces, If and it's a big if R. Horne get's moved to full back then get rid or if he goes ok, keep as a back up squad player.
Raynor - Keep
Tom Briscoe - 100% keeper
R Horne - Had his natural talents coached out of him, would be great at full back or i'd also maybe like to see him as a 13 if Washy went, room to roam around and good hands he'd be more suited to either of those positions as opposed to in the halves.
Dowes - solid grafter, good defence, safe hands every team needs settler props he's one of ours. Keep
Berro - World class player, lost his way a bit. Get some top players around him, get some discipline instilled into the team and some leaders and he'll be back to his best. Defo Keep
Thacks - 1yr contractm, give him some stern words. Keep
Maloney - Liked this lad at Dewsbury, liked his efforts at Saints, seems to have the correct attitude we need in the team. Keep
Moa - Big future in the game and please let it be with us. Improved fitness and he'll be a world beater rugged tough prop every team needs. 3 yr deal defo keep.
Tickle - Good grafter, good kicker, think he should be spelled though as opposed to playing 80. Keep
Burnett - keep
Manu - On his day simply one of the most powerful 2nd rowers in the game needs to be more consitent. Keep
Washbrook - Just not sure about Washy, showed promising signs early in career seems to be a bit laboured at times, extended run at 13 could see him back to best, possibly 1 to moniter on short contracts.
Houghton - Definate keeper, gonna be awesome when full developed, let's just hope he doesn't get his talents coached out of him.
Whiting - Squad player and a top one too. Keep.

Whiting...YPOY playing centre....2005...hope that helps.
Horne gets turned a lot in the centre and cost us 2 v cas.....he isnt a centre and neither is whiting now but he is a damn sight better than Horne.
Our only attacking centre is being ruined by Playing at F/B.

I agree on the Hall point but totally disagree that Graeme alone can take the wrap for conceding two tries against Cas. I put that defeat down to numerous dropped balls, mainly from Hall and Thorman. I remember very well when Whiting won YPOTY playing (mainly) at centre in a very good Hull side with fantastic distribution from our halves, something Graeme hasn't had despite scoring all his tries. Whiting was excellent that year at rushing out the line to stem the opposition centre, but very average in attack other than his interceptions. He also missed 33 tackles in 19 appearances.

When fans think Graham Horne is a good enough centre for a team who want to be a top 2 side no wonder we are where we are...

FYI I don't think we have 4 players worthy of a top 2 side.

I'm saying we're nowhere near a top two side and in my opinion, Horne is equally as good/bad as 90% of our squad. To single him out is not only grossly unfair but bordering on the ridiculous when there's people playing alongside him clearly putting in much less effort and performing much worse. I'll agree to get rid if we're getting rid of the rest of the 90% but I don't see any struggling expansion teams we can swallow at the moment!
