answers on a postcard
Lets list the Leeds players who should have been booted at the first sign of bother off the pitch, or those who cant keep off the cough mixture and keep out of the jeremy kyle pages living their love life out in the street?

| Quote: Mrs Barista "I think that's avoidance of a very reasonable question. You complain at length about our squad, fair enough, and I agree that there must be cash available. So far we are agreed. We have no overseas spots left. Therefore only British players, or overseas players here before 2008, are technically "available", even if all are under contract, some for five years. Since you clearly don't rate Obst and the like, and thought we were very poor last year, let's assume for now that only players from teams in places ahead of us.
The players you would suggest we target are thereforeWigan
Thomas Leuluia
Sam Tomkins
Paul Deacon
Michael McIlorum
Warrington
Chris Bridge
Lee Briers
Richie Myler
Michael Monaghan
Micky Higham
Jon Clarke
Saints
Leon Pryce
Kyle Eastmond
James Roby
Jon Wilkin
Scott Moore
Leeds
Danny McGuire
Rob Burrow
Paul McShane
It's all very well to bleat, but let's try and be a bit more constructive. Which of these do you think would a) improve our squad and b) would be released by their clubs (bearing in mind that Lenegan, Moran, McManus and Caddick are not likely to be swayed by a fee if they rate the player as pivotal). What should the board be doing in terms of recruitment from this group that would satisfy you? It really is a reasonable question.'"
For a start, there is no reason that the group should be limited to these players. I don't know who may have been available overseas when we had a chunk of salary cap and a quota space available. I don't know how much salary cap we now have so can't comment on whether we can afford any of those players. I don't know if we have a transfer budget to make a bid. I don't know what long term promises we can make to any player as I don't know what deals we may be looking at from 2012.
It's not my job to find the players. that's what rule et al are paid to do. What I do know is that plenty of other clubs seem to have been able to bring in half backs and that finding one was supposed to be a priority 4 months or more ago.
Anyway, how long is a piece of string?

It's exactly like that. I'm not in a position to speak to players agents so I don't know which players may have a desire to move if the price was right or even if we have the money to meet any demands

Is that based on anything other than a desire to be a smart ar$e?'"
No. I'm suggesting that making out that Sam Obst would be a replacement for Berrigan is daft at best. Berrigan's cash doesn't necessarily have to be spent on Berrigan's position.
Nice to see you dodging the question about who we might sign instead BTW.

So you're admitting to criticising from a position of ignorance then?
Good oh.

But you make it your business to slate their actions relentlessly. If you feel authoritative enough to critique each of their decisions, surely you are able to provide a credible alternative. I've listed as many eligible players from the top 5 as I can think of. Which would you advocate as realistic and credible targets to improve our squad? It's a reasonable question.

Agreed. Disappointing.

Not dodging anything. If I were an official of the club then I'd be in a position to make enquiries. As I'm not then how can I say who we should have gone for if I don't know who may have been available? I could give some of the names and just get back that X club would never sell Y player. Neither of us would know if it were true or not

I think the fact that we are scrabbling around days before the start of the season with only 1 scrum half, 1 (unfit) stand off and 1 hooker is a joke. I have never said that a player from a lower placed team than us is "silly". Those are your words trying to leverage your point. I'd happily take 3 or 4 creative players from crusaders, a couple from salford, at least one from quins, 1 from bradford, 2, maybe 3 from rovers and there are more examples. Of the players you listed then most would add to our squad, but not being a club official I can't make the necessary enquiries. The real issue here is that 2 or 3 years into agar's reign, we are still sat here without any decent half back cover. This isn't an issue that has suddenly appeared, it's been staring us right in the face since at least 2007

The club's officials have failed in their aim to bring in cover for our critical positions. they now presumably have a significant amount of salary cap to play with yet still don't seem able to do what plenty of other clubs can.
What would you suggest the reason for failure to do so is?
