| Quote: Rugby Raider "There can be another way....
Heard on Talksport today a bloke from The Guardian talking about Manchester City and their stadium.
They have a similar arrangement to what we had. A Council owned stadium, Man City keep the revenue from the first 32,000, then share 50/50% with the Council for crowds up to 48,000.
If Man City extend the stadium at their own cost , they keep all additional revenue over 48,000.
Also Man City have recently sold the naming rights for £12m per season (alledgedly to themselves to get round a new income ruling). The Council have wavered the original naming rights arrangemnet and now recive an additional £2m from the club.
The key underlying message to this was that the stadium has transformed Man City's fortunes. If they had not moved to the stadium they would not have attracted their investors in the first place. Instead they would still be at a tired Maine Road with a restricted capacity, unable to compete within the Premier League, nor attract top players and be nowhere near the Champions League.
I know the Allams want to develop the area surrounding stadium, but a lot success can still be achieved on and off the pitch from the current stadium arrangement.'"
The only problem is that allam owns the SMC who city pay rent to

There's also the small but very significant matter of Man City having no other sitting tenant

There's a rarety, a Grimsby rugby fan.
Why would sitting tenants be a problem? Surely it's already part way along the line of getting full use out of the stadium?
Too many on here seem to hang their opinion on the words of Cllr Geraghty when they've been shown to be nonsense by Allam and Adam Pearson. There's no question Hull FC are staying and rightly so.
What it needs is Geraghty out of the equation and people with more understanding of business involved to broker the best deal for all. Someone that doesn't expect a complete blueprint to be rejected or accepted in its entirety from the start.
Let's face it the Council haven't exactly been open about what their plans for the area are. I'm sure none of you think it can stay as it is and needs developing.

Really??? Seems to me that most people have listened to what both parties have had to say and read all that's been put out in media and come to their own conclusion and opinions?
Listening to Assem Allam he has come across very incoherent and with a slightly different story each time he's interviewed. He keeps going on about his gift to the City by buying the Tigers but that is not a gift its his own business venture and his club.
Many Tigers fans have expressed their opinions based purely on the fact he is the owner of the club they support.
What comments have Allem & Pearson shown to be nonsense?
Has Assem Allam shown any real plans & costings yet to the council?? Has he done any feasibility studies to see what the actual impact will be on the services and amenities of the immediate and surrounding areas?
I agree that the area is indeed in need or serious regeneration but I do question whether a Sports/Leisure/Retail Village is the answer rather than actually looking at and addressing the needs of the people living in the area.

My experience of what City fans used to base their opinions on seems to differ to yours. Obviously there'll be some exceptions, but I see people reviewing both sides with an open mind. I also see many very cynical of the chairman, it's far from blind adulation. We've been through far too much to do that.
After Geraghty made his statements on Radio Humberside, Adam Pearson was on and discredited much of what the Cllr had said about the Rugby and a some of his other claims. I'd argue Adam Pearson is in an ideal position to see both sides. Adam Pearson is also 100% behind the concept.
I call it a concept as that 's what it is, that's why there can be no full costings. At the moment the discussion is about agreements in principle. Once the principle's agreed, then the design and format can start to be negotiated.
All talk of plans, costings etc are simply red herrings at the moment. It's simply not the way these things work.
As you agree that the area needs revamping, what plans and proposals have the council offered?

Here's an offer for you that you simply can't refuse.
Give me your house freehold and I'll raise a mortgage against it and with the money build another one in your garden. If you have a mortgage on your house please settle that first before you give me the freehold.
You can continue to rent your existing house from me (100 year lease guaranteed whilst I'm solvent) and I'll move somebody in to the new house in the garden when it's ready to keep you company. I'll even try and get a tenant in who supports City.
If it doesn't work out for me and I hit hard times and go bust you and your mate in the garden house will have to deal with my mortgage providers to discuss where you might be able to live.
Call it my gift to you if you like.
PM me for further details if interested.

An interesting offer and one that I'll give all due consideration to after I've considered the benefits to my other commitments in this area and what my cost implications are if I don't do something as my property and surrounding area is a cause of complaint from neighbours as it's reducing the chances of investment.
You see, part of the problem is that the house was built with money from a freak occurence in the finance market, so the cost of building it was far, far greater than its current value, in fact as it stands it's probably costing me money so your proposal could be good for me subject to some tweaks and caveats.
I'm not really sure why you're touting for business on here though, unless you mistakenly believe that's the full and final offer put to Hull City Council?

I'd be happy to get involved and once you have signed your house over we can start to chat about the tweaks and caveats, i'll also show you the drawings on the new building once I have my hands on your house. btw, I have just noticed your house has a toilet so I do not need to build one in the new property i'm sure you can share also kitchens are quite expensive so we may as well share this facility as well.
Just to sweeten the deal I have donated some cash to the local school and doctors clinic, i've even given a couple of quid to the local scouts for bob a job week you know how hard up for cash they are.

I can't believe you're interested but that's fantastic.
My plans for the development are on the back of this ...
rlrl
Now I'm not showing the back of it because it cost me 6d plus the cost of the fags to draw it up. I'm thinking of including a swimming pool in the back garden as well if it will fit but there is a public one around the corner and I would obviously charge you to use mine so I might not bother. I was hoping to include a small commercial development down by the alleyway where you keep your bins as I notice that there is such demand locally for retail space (albeit 25% of the shops down the road are empty).
I'm sorry to hear that your house has dropped so dramatically in price and is now worth next to nothing. I have to admit this has given me a bit of a jolt as I'm now wondering just how much I'll be able to raise when I mortgage it to the hilt - need the dosh you see for the shops. Still, since you are giving me your asset (which according to my searches isn't really costing you anything but runs at around break even and is a nice place for you to live), I'll take the chance. My own valuation suggests that it's still worth millions otherwise, to be honest, I wouldn't be presenting you with this gift.
I am buoyed by your interest. Just one other thing - and I know I'll need a solicitor to check but just to save time - are there any legal reasons (covenants etc.) which will prevent you from giving me your house and land ?
Once again thanks for your interest. I'm currently writing this whilst standing in a field in Melton and the signal isn't brilliant plus it's hard to type whilst holding a piece of paper with a picture of the KC stadium on it.
Oh the farmer's coming - gotta run ..
