| Quote ccs="ccs"If it is down to the salary cap, assuming he's not deemed good enough, then playing him would almost certainly kill our chances of getting any more players this season.
[uCarvell won't have been cheap, and I reckon that our live Salary Cap Status will probably be something like "play player1 or player7 and you will exceed the cap".[/u
I'm sure AP won't be happy paying off any players because it's (his) money down the drain.
Maybe when Bradford are sorted things might happen - they're short of players and it's not as if there are too many to go round.'"
It wont be that.

| Will people stop bleating on about the salary cap. Whilst Miller is a player (playing or not) he is a part of the salary cap. He is amongst the top 25 earners so he will currently count on the cap no matter if he plays or not.
As for this
Quote easthull fc fan="easthull fc fan"For the miller lovers out there. Try & get down & watch a training session or two & watch most of the 17 year olds in the 19s squad run over the top of him!!'"
He was not the best defender in the world last season but he was as bad as some are making out. And if he is getting run over by everyone now, maybe the new training techniques are to blame???

Exactly. The halves we are picking in preference are not working to the required level, as well as hooker now not looking as strong either.

Spot on.

That's how I thought it was. Would seem pretty stupid if you could sign more players just by promising not to play someone on your books.
The only conspiracy I can personally see having some truth in it is possibly trying to get him fed up enough to leave of his own accord, and I'm still not quite there on that (maybe next week).

| I think if Miller doesn't play next week, there must be something sinister afoot. I didn't think he was as bad as some are making out last season. He was definitely inconsistent and prone to a few errors, but he showed some nice touches as well. Certainly enough of them to be worth three or four games this year to see how he goes.

I thought if they hadn't played a competitive game in that season, they could be paid off without counting on the cap.

| It is possible that Radford has been trying to work with Miller on improving some deficiencies before throwing him into the lion's den so to speak. If Miller hasn't been particularly impressive in training that wouldn't necessarily be anything other than good coaching by offering some time to the player. This approach is hampered somewhat by not being able to play him in an A team (scandalous IMO) or on dual reg. Maybe this is why Miller has seemed reasonably happy despite not playing - maybe he has seen some merit in that approach and decided to work with it ?
Now that the first team half back standards have fallen below par the time must have come for him to be given an opportunity.

True, but you cant sign loads of players and promise that some won't play. Miller would have to leave before we could sign anyone.

Yeah, I get that. I was just responding to the poster who said the salary cap wasn't a consideration - it could be in Miller's case (if the coach wants rid).
