| Quote hull smallears="hull smallears"IMO it is another attempt at getting the stadium. I think he is deliberately being obtuse, to alienate the fans. They will then hopefully get on his side when he says "the only other way to make money is to get the stadium"
I think he is doing himself no favours, on a now national basis.
My original post was that I just think it would be amusing (if unbelievably childish and counter productive) for Pearson to say something like that off the cuff.'"
Just my opinion but Its that national exposure that I find interesting it is undoubtably the fact that the Council won't gift him the stadium that is getting his goat! Watch next for a "well if I don't change the name and go with all you fans who don't want a change we'll all have to get at the Council and pressure them to give me the ground, otherwise Hull City will go under".
I think that could well be the tactic.
He's upset at the Council, look at the timing of the announcement on the City Web site. All the national interest in the City of Culture stuff and he does it the same day as the Culture Secretary is in town perusing Hull's Year of Culture bid, two days before the Council make their presentation in Derry and a week before the winner is announced. So he goes out and veildly rubbishes the Council of causing the whole problem because they won't give him the Stadium!
The Mail interview is pretty amazing really its so beligerent, lacking in any sort of angle on what the majority of the City fans think and muddled to the extreme!

All fans of FC, Hull City & Rovers should as he can cause massive problems for all 3 teams as he is such a loose cannon and has direct links to the 3 clubs in one form or another us a tenant at the KC, City as the owner & Rovers as benefactor. As he will go out of his way just to spite individuals and a City as whole as it is appearing.

Think you have more than a valid point Wilf and the interview in the paper is just laughable but shows how dangerous the guy is to us all. He seems to be trying to spread fear to simply get his own way. He still has no hard evidence that any of what he has dreamt up will benefit the club or City as a whole re the Stadium Ownership or Name change.
The more he spouts his bile in the media to more harm he not only does to his own self righteous dictorial character but also to the City and the more proof he is not interested in anything other than making a huge pile of money out of it no matter at what cost to everyone else ala Ruscador.
The fact that the shortest name is Hull City he just ignores when pointed out to him which again proves it is nothing more than a spiteful move. I'm still waiting for him to f@ck off to Melton like he promised.

| A City fan on the not606 forum has suggested that the club sell 10 year season passes which will generate money to fund the extension of the east stand which will generate the extra income that Allam wants!

| Many, including myself, mentioned that this bloke could not be trusted further than he could be thrown and its proving to be right.
His claim that he was deprived the opportunity to take the freehold is laughable. He deprived himself by refusing to negotiate and wanting the stadium plus LAND for free.
His claim that Tigers has always been part of the company name, since 1904 is not laughable, its just plain wrong. Take a look at Companies house website (if you can be bothered). The year of incorporation of Hull City AFC (Tigers)Ltd was some time in the year 2000
That he cannot see that shortening the name IS changing the name questions his command of the English Language.
Having read the statement on the City til we die website on the rationale that a shorter name gives a better marketing tool once again questions the guys comprehension. He simply doesn't understand the sporting business. You do not attract additional income on the basis of a fabricated name. There is a quote somewhere in which Allam states that Manchester United attracted US investment because they dropped FC from their name Nothing to do with the countless trophies, history and tradition which they had!!!!
Finally, for him to say, "They can say City all they like, Its my money, my club, I will do what I want and no body can ever question my business dealings" (paraphrased). Firstly, does he not realise that some of these fanes have been putting money in for decades? Does he not realise that a sporting club in substance belongs to the fans??
As someone else mentioned, when is he going to make good on his promise to relocate to Melton?? Don't hold your breath, it was just another empty promise.
Very much glad he has no direct interest in Hull FC. The sooner he is out of the KC the better for all parties concerned.

White Elephant.
If they had sold out all of their matches so far, they might have a point. If they survive this season and next season in the Premier league, the novelty factor will have worn off and crowds will be similar to that of Fulhams.
They would only need to use the extension for less than half of the games in the season (Liverpool, Man Utd, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Newcastle perhaps Everton)

I think you're right, Smallie. This always has been and, out of necessity, will always continue to be his goal. Make no mistake, the rebranding of a minor premier league club in order to sell a few shirts in the far East will generate peanuts compared to the commercial income at his fingertips in the shape of the stadium and it's land. He knows that full well. It's almost as if he's saying 'if you want to keep the name I need the stadium - get behind me in numbers'. How else can you interpret this:
Quote hull smallears="Assem Allam"Having been deprived of opportunities to acquire the stadium freehold, which would have enabled us to create the infrastructure in the surrounding area, we will now need to focus on generating commercial income from elsewhere. A shorter club name will hopefully enable us to do so, within a stronger, quicker marketing impact over the world.'" ?
Interestingly, that quote also confirms it was always his intention to generate a commercial income from the freehold, forget 'sporting village gifts' and 'I'm doing it to thank the city of Hull and it's people for the haven you gave me'. His mercenary agenda is now laid bare for even the most ardent seal-clappers whose rose-tinted spectacles must now surely be sliding off the end of their noses.
Adam Pearson hinted at our forum the other week that Allam was attempting to negociate with the council again. But only yesterday Phil Buckingham tweeted this:
@PJBuckingham "A definite conclusion drawn today, there appears to be zero chance of reconciliation between Assem Allam & Hull City Council".3:26pm - 12 Nov 13
Has another smack in the face from the council precipitated the latest, hilarious, tantrums?

I pointed all this out to David Burns on Sportstalk in 2011. If it was a gift, why would you need the stadium to borrow against? Who would foot the running costs of these gymnastics arenas, an Olympic size swimming pool and 2nd ice rink in an era of public spending austerity? It had to be a commercial, money-making development to benefit him, whether City or another Allamhouse entity. This was subsequently proven in the rants bit later about wives going to "boutiques" next to the stadium whilst the men went to the game. The ridiculous sporting gift fairytale was a transparent wrapper for a commercial land grab. The promise of sporting facilities to keep children off the streets appears to have vanished. I'd like the council to give me the Guildhall for nothing so I can build a hotel in it and keep the profits. It's my right. Otherwise I'll antagonise all the councillors by calling them something silly. It's so logical.

| I said this 2 years ago when I heard his insane rant about merging Hull and Rovers. He's a forking fruitcake.
I sincerely hope the rumours of an AP consortium to buy the stadium come to fruition.
Can the council liquidate the SMC?
