Coupled with the fact we now employ the LF as a third prop, putting Holdsworth there would probably cause out attack to just break down

| I cannot understand why anyone on here wants us to play Horne or Holdsworth at LF.
The reason that we lost 4 consecutive matches is because our pack was being overrun. Our LF plays like an extra prop, not a ball-handling 13. Switching that out in order to play Horne or Holdsworth will not help out forwards at all.
For me, Miller plays. Out of the 4 that can play in the halves (Miller, Holdsworth, Horne, Heremaia) he is the only one who is a proper scrumhalf. I also think that he's shown a lot of potential in the few games he's played for us.
I'd give Holdsworth the nod to partner him, too. Both Horne and Holdsworth have been good in the games they've played for us so far (although I think a lot of Horne's form has been down to Holdsworth giving him the freedom to play that way). I would pick Holdsworth over Horne simply down to him having the better kicking game and will therefore give us a better rounded team.

| Don't forget Horne can also play full back, not that McDonnell did badly yesterday, but there is pressure for a place in more than the halves when he returns.

| Worth having Horne on the bench not sure if azza is going to be fit as that was a huge knock he took, rich could fill in at 6 7 1 9 2or3 but DJ n miller should defiantly start at 6 and 7 if fit.

I don't think horne and holdsworth have played that many games together have they?
What we have missed since horne's injury is the ability to open up a defence, particularly when we have possession in the opposition 20. At the time he was injured, horne was top of the try assist table for the whole of SL and is still sat in 7th place overall, top of our try assist chart and has more than holdsworth, heremaia and miller put together. Anyone who suggests he should be left kicking his heels in the stands is a fool

| DJ is easily the best long field kicker of the three. Miller second - he gets good distance which is a big plus point. Horney's short kicking is better than the other two. an interesting conundrum IF they are ever all fit at the same time. For me I would finish the season with Horne and Holdsworth - Miller will be the scrum half next year and is a very good prospect but he is prone to some fairly big errors at this stage. Horne was our best player prior to injury and DJ does for me have the level of kicking game that can win tight games.
In reality there will probably be more weeks than not where only two from the three are fit so there will not be a decision to make.

| no right or wrong answer to this thread. wouldn't be surprised to see any combination. hornes form is hard to ignore and I think gentle rates him very highly.
this will be a great test of gentles management skills and tactical awareness.
it's more difficult choosing the halfback pairing due to the fact that despite all of our halfbacks have done some good stuff including herimia none of them are what you would be classed a 'go to guy' one which picks himself, in which case we'd be only be discussing who's best to partner our 'go to guy' over time we all pray that miller is that guy but for now it's role vacant for one of them to make theirs. fingers crossed it happens sooner rather than later

| Its no coincidence that our forms dropped since horne got injured. He has to come straight back into the halves for me, id play holdsworth with him. Miller will be a very good signing for us but at the moment with things at stake the other two are better options for me.

this could well be the way gentle will go, miller never had to prove himself to get into the team due to injury. so we never got to know what gentle sees as first choice

| I'd bring miller off the bench. His running game looks superb, does everything at speed. Then could play 3playmakers after games bedded in. With an organizer to take something off miller n free him up to test some big middle men.
Him and Aaron off the bench would be two men who could add some real zip within a game rather than subs by the numbers ie 2props 2/1 backrow/1 hooker
