I agree, and I still agree it was the right decision to sack him at the time, as we where heading backwards with a good squad. Sharp got a lot more out of the same side, and obviously we ended up in the Grand Final at the end of 2006. It was the loss of Cooke and the failure to recruit a proper replacement (and poor recruitment in general) that wrecked that team.

I feel had we either kept Cooke, or replaced him with a quality replacement who wasn't a regular on the physio's table Sharp's side had another Final appearance or 2 in it.

I like Kear and will be getting his book, but I still feel he is coach that can only perform for short-spells and in 'one-off' ties (such as saving Wakefield from relegation, winning the cup with Hull and Sheffield) he is yet to prove he can build a side and have pro-longed success IMO.
