| Quote: Mrs Barista "I'd hope so, otherwise we'd be cheating.
A "huge strategic overall" is a bit dramatic. Our best SL finish in 5 seasons and IMO our conditioning didn't look far off the pace, if at all.'"
Maybe not worded correctly, are we ensuring we stick to the game plan / not bending the rules & not taking unnecessary chances & leaving others exposed which puts extra pressure on others to cover. We have to accept that invariably we will concede points but not panic when this happens. Usually this stretches players, tires them and then become more susceptible to injury when game commences.
Totally agree with your comments re finish & conditioning however I would expect nothing less than a thorough investigation into how this can / could be improved by AP.

| Quote: berro's best mate "my pass will be bought, but not until deadline day im afraid..having £270 go out my account weeks before its needed is no good to me, for all i know my boiler could pack in and the repair bill would be huge.... fc will get my cash on the 27th oct....
i dont see the logic of ending the debit scheme either. surely if they ran it all year then fc would have a steady income of cash every month from people who cant afford a lump sum or even £43 per month...over 12 months passes would be little short of £10 a month...... a more logical price for some given the current economical climate etc... then youd basically be a year in front..'"
Quote: berro's best mate "The ideas about spreading the cost of the pass with a DD over a longer period is a good idea, 200+ quid is a lot of money to lay out over the Xmas period, Rovers are still doing the 3 month term DD but even that could be extended and as was said earlier would give clubs more monthly revenue.'"
I suspect the reason a 12 month DD scheme hasn't been offered is because the cards would then be handed over before they've been fully paid for, which could open the possibility of DDs then being cancelled & the club out of pocket. I wonder if there might ever be the possibility of a DD scheme starting in the new year, leaving just a balancing payment at this time of year once the prices are decided. Problem with is whether or not people are likely to commit before knowing the renewal price or their financial situation for the year.

We dont know how sophisticated the new scanning system is but while I agree with you if some-one did cancel their DD the card would be cancelled. I pay a DD Monthly at Total Fitness and if this happened I would expect not to gain entry. Simple admin me thinks.

Now we're using the automated system if that happens the club just need to suspend the card until it's paid for and they won't be able to get in the ground anyway.

| AP was doing a Hudgell in the Sun yesterday, having a moan about 14 teams been too many and not a big enough player pool. He's probably realised that rugbys not like football where you just have to flash the cash and the players yours, even the skint clubs can't afford to lose players as there's no one about to replace them I guess.

Sod that, follow the Leeds model. Peak at the right time, 2 finals and two wins from 5th. Wigan bombed in 2 semi-finals.

Could well be the case, but there's still a) the cost of the card being made, and b) the club being at the mercy of the fixture list. Home games are not necessarily distributed evenly over the season, so people may cancel early if the bulk of home games have gone. Then there's also the form factor. If we have a poor season, how many will decide to cancel their DDs and write the season off? That's lost revenue that the current options secure for the club.

| All clubs do a season long installment plan, its called buying a ticket on game day. The whole point of season passes is so a club has as much money in the bank at the beginning of the season to allow them to budget correctly for the year,
The only way a season long payment scheme would work is to allow to pay for next years pass in advance, this would mean prices for the following season would need to be set at the beginning of this one.

Limiting the competition and finger pointing the small player pool is a very parochial and introverted way at looking at the problem. For the long term health of the competition, we need to expand the player pool, and expand the supporting base. All the chairmen are trying to grasp as much of the sky cash as possible, which is good for the short term health of their club, but terrible for the sport as a whole.
As long as I can remember, there has been some awful players plying their trade in the top division so I don't understand the argument fully. I think the lack of certain positions coming through are due to the changes in the way the game is played, rather than participation levels. I also think the lower division is as good as I can remember it being, and there are plenty of players within that comp capable of playing Super League.
