I think I’m the only one who is under whelmed by this news. He has been average as far as SL standard stand offs go over the past few seasons. I really don’t see why everyone is so happy. Yes he is loyal and has been good in the past, but he is slower than he was, his kicking game is poor, which is not good for a standoff, and the old show and go is telegraphed and against bigger teams he goes missing most of the time. He is not the best defender in the world and doesn’t make many line breaks either. I really hope he doesn’t take that much cap space up on these next two years. Nice kid and all and nothing personal but I don’t get it. I would rather have most other teams stand offs in SL.

Agreed...I fear our club is run on sentimentality.

I would have considered a one year deal, Rich has improved this season but is no where near his best nor will he ever be I fear.

Pleased about this. I think he'll be important to us next year and hopefully the other signings will allow him to play his natural game.
Hope Wolfie is right that Big Sam will be next.

very pleased with the news but if im honest i would of only done a 1 year deal but just glad hes still going to be with us,
if horney stays fit which he has showed, has a good pre season of ttraning which he aint had for a fair few years no and with generals in key posistion in mckinnon, seymour, heremia, houghton and maybe westy at 13 in the middle that will help horney so much because i think its fair to say hes not really a good oginising half that can control a game but a really good individual

I disagree with people who are not happy with this signing - I was one calling for his head earlier on in the season but he has proved me wrong in difficult circumstances.

The main problem is that he is not a leader and/or a kicker but is often forced to play those roles. He is a player who thrives off a midfield general, much in the same way Maguire does at Leeds. With a (hopefully) regular 7 leading them around next year I reckon we'll see the form of Rich of old next year feeding off Seymour.

On another point in not sure who better we would have to replace him with and with Nicklas back next year it's a great way to bring that lad through too with a top role model. As for length of contract, 2 years for a 29 year old isn't exactly scandalous.
