I think this speaks volumes about how much of an influence we, as a crowd, can be. My own personal view is that you can always just not watch the games if you don't like what's in front of you. But don't contribute to the opposition having an advantage over us, especially at home matches.
Some of the most memorable ad enjoyable games I've been to we actually lost, but because of the "sing and enjoy the day regardless" attitude we used to have in abundance now sadly seems to be diminishing.'"
unfortunately this is a by-product of moving to a modern new stadium, when we are playing well and the crowd get behind the team the atmosphere can be great but many of the new fans we have gained seem content to sit and watch the game in silence and dont get involved, I dont agree that our fans get on the teams back if we dont play well for the first 10-15 mins though, maybe that has happened once or twice this season but what do you expect when we have to watch some of the passionless aimless crap that we have this season? i loved being in the old threpenny stand and singing right throughout the game win or lose and you are right some of the most memorable games were defeats but those days are gone. the only solution is to put a rocket up the backside of the prawn sandwich brigade and get them singing! |

On Friday evening I was watching Saints V Huddersfield on Sky. At half time the Saints fans started to Boo the Saints team off. It was clear to hear the Boo's from the fans not happy with their teams first half performance. Maybe its become the norm to Boo your team. I don't agree with it however but if Saints fans can Boo their team then it beggers belief.

yes the atmosphere has been bad at games for ages, but what do they expect when there coach has a win record of 33% the fans have shown great loyalty these last 2 seasons, many other fans would have stopped going altogether.'"
The point is that we have offered little in terms of encouraging our players this season. Infact I think most fans seem to thrive on us doing bad on the pitch. |
