I don't know if he will be imprisoned, but by joining Hull who have just launched this project for working with the perpetrator - not the victim, admitting he was wrong, apologising and saying he would work with any community schemes we have, he may have just saved himself a sentence. Hull as a club cannot say they back a scheme for working with the perpetrator and then refuse to sign someone because of their crime.
I do not condone physical violence at all.

Who had the gun to their heads forcing them to sign him? They had a choice in this. It's nothing to do with "refusing" to sign him |

Indeed. You would hope that should Reardon avoid a custodial sentence on 23rd then he becomes involved in the Strength to Change campaign.
The figures on domestic violence are shocking - 25,000 female victims a year in Hull alone, which suggests something like a quarter of all women in the city. |

The thing that has most wound me up is the sheer hatred on this forum .
Fair enough we aren't playing well, we are lacking ideas on attack but when all said and done we are 2 points off second and have lost the same number of games as the current champions. We have hopefully 2 players to come in who both offer attributes we are short of at the moment and the probability that if one or the other doesn't arrive we could still be strengthening from somewhere, we got beat yesterday by goal kicks in an excellent game and have only been very much second best at Harlquins.
We do not have a right to beat every other team and don't try and tell me we didn't show commitment yesterday.
The club ,at the moment belongs to Kath and co. That is a fact that can only be changed if they decide to leave and sell. The hope that a local supporter and friends will buy the club is only a hope
imho this message board has become an embarrassment and all of you who disagree with me will be pleased to know i'm not contributing anymore'"

A very good point. The fact that he has also publically expressed regret for his actions is undoubtedly a plus as well. |

The perpetrator scheme is a partnership initiative between NHS Hull, Hull Citysafe, that Hull FC allowed to be launched to a massive audience. I went to a lower key launch of the same event at the beginning of last week (as the partnership manager of Hull Citysafe) where the talk was about real men admitting the strength to change. I would hope that Hull FC will be in contact this week to encourage Mr. Reardon to enrol on the programme. I like you do not condone violence and would hope that the club and the player see the chance to show what he did was wrong on so many levels, but if the remorse he mentions in all the press releases is genuine, then should he be allowed to show that he is working to reform what he now knows is wholly unacceptable behaviour. |
