Haven't seen anyone blame football on here on this issue.
Duffen has made a poor decision from the SMC's point of view. he could have earned a decent sum of money for his company and ultimately the owners of the stadium had he bothered to review the usage of the stadium in its short life.
It doesn't matter if it was a flippant remark or a deadly serious one. I am certain Mr Hoddle and Mr Ratner would like the opportunity to turn back the clock to rephrase things they have said in the past.
Talking about self esteem issues, why are you so jealous of a minority sport like RL when you follow a premier league soccer club. I find it odd that a small number of Hull City fans try and fail to belittle a sport which is only played along the M62 corridor. Liverpool and Everton fans are not concerned with the fortunes of Widnes. Leeds United fans couldn't give a rats ar$e about Leeds Rhinos. So why are some Hull City fans so envious of the acheivements of the RL clubs? |

Duffen, by his own admission, is ignorant of Rugby League. But I suspect that his naivety is now in danger of being replaced by outright hostility towards this 'rival' sport to his beloved football.
For all his faults, at least Adam Pearson was reasonably respectful towards the Rugby League community in this City, presumably because he was raised in the RL heartlands itself and understood its history.
For all his protestations to the contrary, Duffen COULD easily have secured an RL Test Match for the KC Stadium (as exemplified by Wigan) and quite frankly his attempts to shift the blame towards the RFL are pathetic (why should they be forced to wait until June for an answer??)!
[size=150I have it on very good authority [/size(and I genuinely mean that), that Paul Duffen 'enquired' to the Council last week just what it would take to remove Hull FC as joint tenants!
He was met with a firm rebuttal from council leaders (who by all accounts were fuming), who reiterated that Hull FC's lease agreement was water-tight for the next 20 years or so.
I am telling you, BEWARE PAUL DUFFEN!'"

Firstly, why would the chairman of a company that rents the KC ask how to get a co-tenent out when it would result on one tenant having to cover all of the operating costs.

So why have internationals in the past been played that time of the year with no problems then?.Has for Mr Duffin he has confessed about being ignorant to Rugby League so he should keep his opinions to his self and keep his big mouth shut, joke or no joke because no one is laughing at this side of the fence.  |

Whatever Mr Duffen thinks in private is his business, but for a man in his public position, he shouldn't be able to get away with such a sweeping, defamatory remark made 'on the record'.
Would a local councillor walk away professionally unscathed if he publically insulted all residents of a certain council estate for example?
Many Politicians have walked for less.
Lets not forget that Glenn Hoddle lost his job for his views on a certain sector of the population which were made OFF THE RECORD and, in all probability, were grossly misinterpreted!
Tongue-in-cheek or not (and I'm certainly not convinced they were), Duffen's comments were highly defamatory and he shouldn't be able to walk away from this with his reputation intact.
At the very least, he should be made to apologise.

The Stadium is owned by the Hull City Council and managed by the Stadium Management Company (SMC) who hold a 50 year lease.
