Quote: bonaire "dont agree
The Asiata signing was a statement but since then the quality of UK signings is poor.and our backline and halfbacks will be the slowest in S/L.
Top six was easily possible with several quality overseas players and by binning Sao,Okunbor and possibly Pele we still could have the overseas halfback,Nine and centre that we need.
The club have gone the route of fillers with experience in the hope that some of our younger players will become regular S/L players in two or three years.
These players are not going to put bums on seats next season.Another two or three big names would have done'"

I kind of get what you mean but by the time the investment came in any decent UK based players had already signed for other clubs so we are kind of left trying to get what we can from an already limited market. If we can get Murphy (don't know the strength of the rumour) we'll have pace out wide and at FB with Stewart. What Abdull and Trueman lack in pace they make up for in smarts.
Hopefully next year we can have a good go at the UK Market now we have a coach and investment in place. Centre and backrow obviously need the most work and money.

Problem is that next year most of the average players were signing will still have a further year to run on their contracts

Hopefully they'll be on lowish contracts allowing us to recruit quality, the other option is to backload contracts to try and squeeze the most out of the cap.

You'll have to forgive me, i'm reasonably new to posting.

You, evidently, are not. But your like a poor man's Bonaire.

Following Hull makes you miserable. Give it up, walk away, find another endeavour or find some
green-shoots.

to be posting on a forum, on a Friday night (as am i) bemoaning Hull FC is tragic. At least i'm going through divorce and losing half my assets, so my morbidity has place.

Looks like it's just a case of who's going now.

Maybe the investment hasn’t took effect yet? With due respect we are only signing lower lever journeyman pro’s and Queensland cup players at the moment. I still think it makes for a better balance so can’t really complain.

I really hope come the end of the year we might have something concrete with the investment that will allow us to pay off a couple of quota players and either bring in a couple of class overseas players or you never know maybe even buy a player like we did with Sneyd early in the Pearson days. I’m clinging to the hope anything big they’d want to keep until season ticket time anytime, that’s just blind optimism though.

Having watched their highlights Stewert and Rimbu will certainly give us better pace and support play.

Rimbu can play 6 too.

Lets hope they are both more of a Ipapa than a Lovodua

Good that the club are getting recruitment done early this year. We had nothing last year until August.

It's obviously hard to comment on Rimbu just based on a highlights reel but I guess Cartwright has watched him closely and thinks he has something to offer.

Thanks for the advice but In a couple of years I'll be coming up to 50 years since my first trip to the boulevard so I think following the club is probably in my blood so waking away isn't really a option.

You completely misunderstand me. Having seen the club reach the highest highs and plumb the lowest depths over the years, I no longer worry when things are going badly, but it doesn't stop me posting my opinions on here. In fact I'm far more objective now than I was for much of my time supporting the club. I just say it as I see it. Some will agree, some won't, I don't really care either way.

As for the poor man's boonaire, I love it icon_lol.gif

Sorry to hear about your marital troubles. Makes watching our shoite bag of a team more enjoyable I guess

Well it looks like Rimbu is done deal according to HDM
Just have to wait and see who is released. I get the feeling it's going to be 2 quota players. Okunbor and Pele as have been mentioned before.
Also, what are we thinking about Smith, is he going or staying? We also have hodgson and balmforth ooc

Balmforth must be off if we've signed 2 young hookers. Maybe we'd have been better signing one better quality one. Possibly also the end of smith. He isn't a half back so shouldn't be oir back up option. I'd expect that is going to be charles.

Hodgson seems highly rated so I'd be surprised if he is leaving unless our nearest and dearest have thrown some cash at him

Pele and Knockonbor and Carlos T must surely be exit stage door left

This is a true renaissance !

We must get a NRL first team beast of a Centre !!!!!
Or else we have failed in my opinion

Balmforth is just too heavy and Cummins is begging him to commit to being an elite player, but it seems he won’t
Good job Jordan Abdull and Balmforth don’t car share on the way home from training as it will be a Fast food crawl !

Will never happen, a high quality NRL centre isn't attainable over here anymore, the best we could hope for is a Lafai/Leutele type player which would be a huge improvement anyway on what we have

Think we need at least one more statement signing, so far it's been solid signings, plus 3 risky signings and Asiata.
