I think you're down playing York there a bit. They're a championship outfit who are well coached, have recruited well and are aiming for promotion.
It's too early to write off the youngsters just yet.
Yes I was disappointed with the 2nd half but I wasn't surprised.
It'll take time for the squad to develop and adjust to Hodgson's style.
I just hope there will be no Radford type hangovers and a revert to type whilst we develop.
Hodgson I'm sure will have got a lot out of that game which will be more important than the score.

Iirc York had 11 subs for the game - did they not play them and only had their first team on show in the second half? No, they were as depleted as us yet where much better

| Just watched HKR v Cass as well as England v India in the T20. England was well beaten which was a bummer but Rovers lost which made me smile. The other bit of note in rovers game there were lots of errors in the first half, no change there, Kenny-Dowall very quiet as a captain, fairly inconsequential. I know it was only a friendly but on both rovers and Cass’ blogs no comments on either. Why is that?

No idea but as context Cas had 7 out (Sosaia Feki, Suaia Matagi, Danny Richardson, Liam Watts, George Griffin, Greg Eden & James Clare), lost Alex Foster to a bicep injury and had Jake Truman in the sin bin. They did it pretty tough against full strength SL opposition you'd have to say.
Results this weekend:
Catalans Dragons 40 Toulouse Olympique 28
St Helens 24 Leigh Centurions 25 (Tommy Makinson Testimonial)
Wakefield Trinity 30 Dewsbury Rams 10
Huddersfield Giants 22 Leeds Rhinos 16
Hull Kingston Rovers 20 Castleford Tigers 30
Salford Red Devils 20 Wigan Warriors 6
Anyone see the Hudds game - curious about our 1st opponents?

I managed all 8 NRL games either live or fully on replay, and I wonder why work on a Monday comes around so quickly.
I will have to cram Super League in shortly as well.
Just about to see if Lee Westwood can win a Major at Sawgrass.
It's not easy.

Westwood pipped at the post by a fast finishing Thomas. Still $US1.6 Million should help to ease the pain.
I watched all the NRL matches live. Who do you tip for Premiers this year? Am looking forward to the SL start in a couple of weeks.

| I watched Rovers vs Cas yesterday. Rovers didnt look much different to last year no structures in attack and defence. Reliant on wildly offloading, throwing the ball about and relying on Quinlan to create something. SKD, Litten, Takarangi and King had good games. There will do better than the last couple of seasons as they have better players but really need to improve the basics.
Was impressed with Cas, they have a very good spine, Evalds is a superb fullback.

Think the Panthers can get over the final hurdle this year.
Invaluable experience for this squad last year and fancy them to make amends.
A lot of people fancy a final swansong for Bennett and his Souths.
A fully firing Lattrell Mitchell is pretty impressive viewing.
Storm looked like they've started like they finished last season. Bellamy always has them well drilled and will be around at the business end.
Fosdyke's tipping Roosters and they looked mighty impressive in the first round with Tedesco flying.
Eels and Raiders likely to make up the top 6.

| Quote: Mrs Barista "Centre of Excellence plans being discussed
This investment in youth, is one, if not the most important things our club has planned, and in these times of financial hardships, another sign that with AP in charge, we will be heading in the right direction.
Looking forward to new talent emerging from within our own system, come on you ulla.

| The youth set up is vital, can save thousands in the long term but we seem to have been lacking if I'm honest as we don't produce the homegrown stars that Wigan, Leeds and Castleford do on a consistent basis. I do hope that might change under Hodgson, I am really optimistic about the changes he has made and think he'll be a great coach and just what we needed after some "lazy" years under Radders, when we stagnated at all levels within the club.

Agreed except Cas, what players have they produced under Powell from their academy?
Huddersfield have a great academy set up.
Pearsons biggest mistake was the academy merger.
