Or Shaun Wane, Francis Cummins, Brian Noble, etc. Brian McDermott's only previous gig was his disastrous time at London.
The fact is that every head coach was promoted from assistant at some point, and many of them made a success of it. Even top sides will take a chance if the candidate impresses them. Promoting an assistant isn't an automatic recipe for disaster as some seem to be claiming.

Pretty much like it wasn't last season for us.

Possibly so if all of his alternatives are also injured. Be interested to know about Green, too.

| Quote: Sebasteeno "No my championing of Noble is because after years of promoting assistants beyond their ability a coach with a proven track record was needed at our club but instead we went for the unknown quantity again and we are now still stagnating as we have done for years. As another poster has said Gentle is the Ausiie Paul Cullen, talks a great game but cant deliver'"
Massive irony in the fact that you're simultaneously deriding promoting assistant coaches and lauding Noble's achievements at Bradford.

Did someone mention Green might have been suffering a knock? I left him out as there'd been nothing 'official'.
In the squad for Friday though, so must have been minor if anything.

Sometimes it works, in Hulls case it doesnt and a proven man is needed before another season is over (allthough ours could be by monday night)
Do people honestly beleive Gnetle is getting the best out of the players available because i feel the players are better than the league position even with injuries?

Daft question. Even Gentle and the players themselves concede this point.
The real question is whether Gentle is [icapable[/i of getting the best out of the players. Last season suggests he is, this season not so far. Which is why it's stupid to write him off at the moment.

The frustrating re-occurring problems which was under Agar's tenure still remain, players getting off the floor too slow, passing too slow, non existant dummy runners etc, are fixable, no matter the quality of the personnel.
Defensively, we have improved under Gentle.
For mine, Gentle isn't getting the best out of his players at the moment.I hope he can fix the basic facets of our game,
IF he did go, I'd like us to go for a proven Head Coach.

| I think there's a lot to like about gentle and some promising signs but I'm concerned with his stance in recent interviews where he doesn't seem to know the answer to the team's problems.

It just makes it so much easier for the opposition.

Who is the proven head coach, who is out of work that you think would be suitable?

He did say the other week, that it was certain players letting the team down.
Perhaps he still thinks it is, but doesn't want to say anymore publicly
