Quote: Standee "What, ALL SL clubs and NRL clubs, the guy had to practically beg for a contract on Twitter FFS!

I'll back him in the B&W, but when you need half backs and fit players going out and wasting a quota and non fed spot on a dodgy (injury wise) fullback isn't good business.'"

What other 'top' team are willing to use a quota spot on full back if they already have one?

Wigan - Tomkins
Saints - Wellens
Wire - Hodgeson
Leeds - Webb
Hudds - Grix
Dobbins - Briscoe

Looks to me that most clubs either had a full back or used their quota spots in more prioritised positions.

As I said before, I would rather have a 1st team full back then a back-up half. Tansey departs, we deal with priorities. To me it is good business.

the phelps signing is good bussiness, who was to know that tansey was going to do what he did and rightly so got sacked it just left us in a difficult posistion and with phelps without a club it made sense on a 1 year deal so it dosent impact our recriutment for 2012 but makes phelps try to earn another contract bit like when we signed moa on a 1 year deal. as for phelps hes a pretty good rugby player with good ball handling skillls and will bring a bit of pace and ethusiasm, is he better then tansey most probable and hes certainly had some good reviews of the wigan fans they seem to think he will go well for us.

We've had months and months to sort out our squad and haven't even come close to resolving our inadequacies. I don't buy this "bad luck/too late in the day" mentality. We are where we are because we've failed miserably, over and over again, to recruit a squad capable of challenging for honours over 27 rounds of SL.

Agar and Rule should take the blame for that when we finish mid-table whilst watching tiny clubs like Hudds, Dobbins, Wire etc.. cement their places above us in the English game.

It is not only disappointing, it's fkng embarrassing !!!! icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

agar has obviously stated that he wants halfback cover and has targeted certain players thats my only disspointment that a halfback hasnt been brought in gareth moore ffs, anyway like i say who was to know tansey was going to do what he did no one know and rightly got sacked but that meant we needed to bring in a fullback and a halfback cover. weve managed to get phelps in at this stage of the year presumibly on quite a cheap wage and a 1 year deal good bussiness but we still need to bring in a halfback cover but with phelps signing we have to look at british based players so i say lets have a dig at gareth moore ffs english, cheap, good kicking game, proved himself at a good level championship

At the end of last season, we needed to do a number of things to our squad in order to compete with the likes of Wigan, Wire, Saints.

1) Get rid of the likes of Cusack, Dowes and Radford (or at least two of them) and improve our front row with at least one quality prop............. FAILED

2) We needed at least one half-back and also some cover there.........FAILED

3) We needed to solve our right centre problem and get some strike out there..........FAILED

4) Berrigan leaving was rumoured for a while and welcomed by many(especially me) but we needed to spend his salary on some quality............FAILED

5)We also needed to get someone in who can spell Houghton (possibly linked to the HB cover)..FAILED

But we have brought in a winger, another backrower and a utility back that no club wants ! d040.gif

Sharp and Westerman both have talent and potential but do we really think that we have any chance whatsoever of challenging towards the top of SL this year ??

We have become a laughing stock !!! icon_rolleyes.gif

Seriously...are you for real? The season hasn't kicked off yet!!!!!!

Does it give you pleasure being so negative?

Remember the 'old gits' from Harry Enfield and Friends? I imagine you as one of them...sat in a dark room, complaining that 'things aren't what they used to be!'

Actually, reading your post in the voice of the Old Gits actually makes it amusing.....so thanks!

We support a massive club which succeeds in everything it does away from the pitch but consistently fails on it. Are you seriously happy to just accept that ?

Last season, we were probably 3 or 4 quality players away from challenging for honours. After this season's "recruitment campaign" we are a million miles away. You also happy with that are you ?

You might be happy to buy your season pass and sit and clap unconditionally every weekend.

I am definately not !

I take it you mean Phelps who was playing out of his skin and keeping Roberts out of Wigans team and only was out of the team because of injury and the emergence of younger players.............other teams may be at full Quota for Phelps...personally its a good deal and we have got a very good player...il take the wigans fans views on him over other peoples.

As for the props...we was left with no option after Fielden signed for Wigan after they upped to a 2 yr deal

As the other options i agree and i still would have kept Hall.
