| Did any fans actually expect immediate success?
This was always going to be a year of transition.

The Rugby Football League are in the process of reviewing the video that you are referring to. We do not condone behaviour of this nature and have contacted the player’s employer, Hull F.C., who have confirmed that they are dealing with the incident under their club rules.

It depends what you call success, I didn't expect us to go backwards.
I've no doubt our recruitment will be good but the form of the side is worrying.

So we finish let's say 8th this season and 5th next season and you think AP will keep PG ?
AP isn't an idiot/loon but I can have a great guess at the type of person who may be !
Just like getting hammered at Leeds , finishing 8th this season and 5th next is NOT acceptable to AP , it wouldn't be to me and shouldn't be to PG either.
McGuire at Wigan and Smith at Wire and Brown at Giants(before etc) ALL 3 show that a team can be turned around in 1 season NOT the 3 you are obv looking at.
Therein is my point and has been for years , too many fans accept mediocre , that's how they live their lives. Mediocre.
Thank goodness AP wants to WIN and win big , very soon !

It depends whether Pearson backs up his bluster and puts his hand in his pocket and puts a quality side together. If we get 6 Ryan McGoldricks then 5th wouldn't be a success it would be a bloody miracle.

| Also Wigan and Warrington had really good sides anyway, McGuire and Smith were lucky to inherit teams that had underacheived. As for Brown, I didnt realise that being feebly booted out of the playoffs in week one was a success.

30596_1286642206.jpg If there is no struggle, there is no progress. Those who profess to favor freedom, and yet depreciate agitation, are men who want crops without plowing up the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the awful roar of its many waters. This struggle may be a moral one; or it may be a physical one; or it may be both moral and physical; but it must be a struggle.

you forgot to mention Trent Robinson who turned a bunch of dejected losers finishing bottom of the league into a good competitive side last season (winning Coach of the Year) and reinforced the improvements this season with a really strong side - ok, they probably won't win anything but at least they are playing good RL and giving entertainment and value for money to their fans and hopefully to fans from other clubs.
Success doesn't have to be projected over a three year period, how can it be with so much player movement & injuries etc but Tony Smith and Michael Maguire proved recently it can be done short term so why this 'three year' nonsense ?
Today is today, who cares what happens in three years ?

Didn't Smith go out and pay fee's for some of the UK's best talent? Didn't Maguire sign 3 first teamers from Melbourne?

At the start of the season most people suggested 6th and a play off win would be about right for this season. That's still very possible. I just don't understand what's changed to fans' expectations.

You're 2 points off 5th (and Leeds have the welcome distraction of a cup final), Bradford are fighting for their existence first, play-offs second and Hudds are in freefall pretty much.
If you can get some players back and turn your form around it could still be a [igood[/i transitional year. Decent looking run in you have late in the season, too.

| Didn't Warrington finish tenth in Smith's first season? He was appointed in March 2009.

We've took points off Wire, Saints, Leeds and Hudds. We've dropped about 8 points in the last 10mins of games.
I don't think we've got backwards. This year was always going to be unsteady with all massive changes we've had.
