[i“The drums have been beating for me to give him a game and it’s now on his toes, so we’ll see what he’s got. He hasn’t played so far because of his performances in the friendly games.[/i
The above is a quote from Radford which I find amazing, bearing in mind that Miller did not have the advantage of playing with the first team squad and had to make do with the second string in the friendlies. It really seems to me that Jacob doesn't have much of a future under Radford.

Beat me to it. How the hell was he supposed to perform well in the friendlies behind a second/third string pack? He's set him up to fail, that being the case.
Edit: And is that the plan tonight? Give him a run out behind a severely weakened pack, then decide he's not good enough if he doesn't have a very good game?

TBF, in rlthisrl piece Radford says it was particularly the Bradford game, where Miller did indeed play with the rest of the first team. What I personally disagree with is that that was the only time IIRC, and he shouldn't have seemingly been ruled out of first team reckoning after one bad runout. I hope that doesn't happen again if he isn't less than stellar tonight, he needs to be given a run of games.

Not amazing in the slightest. He's been picked tonight and has his opportunity. Let's all hope he takes it.

Sounds like he's got the perfect excuse to say I told you so if Miller doesnt give a m.o.m performace tonight

Edit
The second comment is my worry. We'll have to see how it goes tonight, but if he's dropped after one game it won't be right IMO. Rankin and Heremaia were given 3 games, Horne 6, Miller should be afforded at least the same. Hopefully he will be.
Also, he shouldn't really have to be amazing tonight to retain his place, he should really only need to be better than the 2 were last week. Hopefully he should be able to do that.

He also specifically mentions defence. Seems an odd reason to leave a halfback out, to me. Particularly when he says that he had a 'good solid pre-season' other than that.

Just shows what a shambles pre-season was.All Radford seemed to be interested in was getting one over Rovers.

I agree with you. I was just pointing out that the comment wasn't entirely unfair, as the main issue does seem to revolve around the game in which he played with the first team.

Agree entirely. He shouldn't have been left out after the Saints game either.

| Hopefully he'll perform to the required standard and then it's a moot point anyway. Do people really think that a SL coach waits to select a player in a weakened team to 'set him up' ? I highly doubt that to be honest - I really do.
Worst thing for Miller has probably been waiting to get out and play another competitive game (his last one being the 76-18 reversal at Hudds). They always say after a defeat like that players just want to get out on the field and right the wrongs. He's had to wait longer than most.

Agree, says it all when we tried to sign Luke Gale, probably shattered Miller's confidence.
Interesting quote from Radford in today's HDM.
“ I’ve told the players I won’t drop anyone who performs well and performs to their ability. That I can guarantee.”
So ,does this mean Yeaman does not start tonight??

Yeah, but I think it is (almost, at least) entirely unfair to state that a halfback has had a 'good solid pre-season', but that he's been left out for his defensive efforts in the one game he got any time behind the first team pack. A first team pack that failed to dominate in the game anyway, hence the defeat.

Radford is not going to drop Yeaman
Also reading between the lines of his press interviews theres two player's that will be very disappointed and a few that played last week didn't take their chance to impress.
