So you agree he's an average player rather than a good one

Exactly. I'm not doubting that Washy can do a job, I'm sure he will be putting everything into it. I just think a half who has experience hooker would be a better option.

Are you suggesting that we should stick the berrigan money in the bank?
Is that based on anything other than a desire to be a smart ar$e?

Obst is nothing like what we need. He's an OK hooker. He's elusive and his backing up is OK, however I have never seen any indication that he has any organising skills at all. People remember the odd decent run he has but then forget the half dozen or so matches between these where he is totally anonymous. He would hardly have got a game at wakey last year had they not lost newton and brough. No better than what we have at half back cover IMO. Would be a better back up hooker than washbrook though

Would you rather have us sign a back up half or a 2nd hooker? I would rather have a player that can confidently play the both.

As I've posted this week on here, so far it'sOut
Berrigan
Tansey
Calderwood
Cusack
Hall
Burnett
In
Westerman
Phelps
Sharp
Even allowing for upgrades, there has to be some money left. We have no overseas spots left. Who will be prepared to release a top class playmaker at this point? Cas and Crusaders have declined on Chase and Sammut, Wakefield only have Obst who is not top class. Would Saints, for example, accept a fee for Pryce? Unlikely as they don't need the money with McManus as a sugar daddy. Would Wigan release Tomkins perhaps? Er, no, 5 year deal just signed. We've had a good go for Myler. Who do you suggest we try and get?

I'd rather have one who could competently play both

Why do people always come up with that question as if it proves something? It's like me asking some non accountant about some complex accounting matter and then trying to act smug when they don't know the answer. It's not my job to know who may be available. I don't even know what the club's budget is or how much players are earning elsewhere so how can I possibly answer? Dumb question asked by people who are grasping at straws trying to prove their side of the argument

Sam Obst can, in my opinion.

I think that's avoidance of a very reasonable question. You complain at length about our squad, fair enough, and I agree that there must be cash available. So far we are agreed. We have no overseas spots left. Therefore only British players, or overseas players here before 2008, are technically "available", even if all are under contract, some for five years. Since you clearly don't rate Obst and the like, and thought we were very poor last year, let's assume for now that only players from teams in places ahead of us.
The players you would suggest we target are thereforeWigan
Thomas Leuluia
Sam Tomkins
Paul Deacon
Michael McIlorum
Warrington
Chris Bridge
Lee Briers
Richie Myler
Michael Monaghan
Micky Higham
Jon Clarke
Saints
Leon Pryce
Kyle Eastmond
James Roby
Jon Wilkin
Scott Moore
Leeds
Danny McGuire
Rob Burrow
Paul McShane
It's all very well to bleat, but let's try and be a bit more constructive. Which of these do you think would a) improve our squad and b) would be released by their clubs (bearing in mind that Lenegan, Moran, McManus and Caddick are not likely to be swayed by a fee if they rate the player as pivotal). What should the board be doing in terms of recruitment from this group that would satisfy you? It really is a reasonable question.

Garbage, it's nothing like that. The question is straight forward, who do you suggest Hull should make a move for?

I've done him a list, for goodness' sake. Can't be much more helpful.
