| Quote R.B.A="R.B.A"Appreciate my view will count for little on here but I was quite impressed with Hull first half. Thought you were direct, methodical and varied your kicking game well. Reynolds definitely looks a player that will improve the players around him. Connor in particular.
I wouldn't get too stressed about the second half. You already knew that depth was an issue and Hodgson has said himself that he wants a couple more players. This will be Jack Browns breakthrough year 100%.
The coaching staff having obviously seen something in the trialist winger. I would give him a 2 year deal and send him straight out on a season long loan to Champ 1 to learn the game. Will cost you nothing on the Cap. No risk.'"
Agree with all of that. Would have liked one more friendly but understand the clubs reasons for only doing 1 friendly, with a 2 week longer preseason and longer season ahead.
Do worry a bit about strength in depth as we seem to have a big drop off in quality after the main 17, and have done for a while now. But surely there is some money left on the cap for a mid season arrival or two. I feel the club have played it a bit safe while they see what the finances are like from pass sales and the lockdown restrictions (which is again completely understandable)

| Quote Chris71="Chris71"On Vulikijapani I thought his performance was very similar to how Ratu’s first few games were, with some hesitancy. He made some good carries so all in all it was a mixed bag for him. Had he been on in the first half with a more experienced back line then he would probably looked a lot different so that is also a factor.
Ratu even when he left still had areas that he was weak in yes he hit like a train & had speed to burn but he wasn’t perfect.
As I say I don’t think Vulikijapani was any worse than Ratu in his first trial game to be honest.'"
Exactly, ratu had plenty of games like that

| I watched the game Thursday and was impressed how radically we’ve changed but there was a hint of the old stuff there. York’s first try was a typical blunder by the weak right side defence naming no names. The second half, as always with these games, showed us what the second string are capable of. Seriously hope the FC injury hoodoo doesn’t strike this season because as Wilf and others have said, we are a skinny squad but looking on the bright side, a lot of those junior players are going to get there chance, hopefully, under Hodgson. Radford’s ploy was to shuffle first team players about, disrupting the whole team.

| The worrying part for me is you would think that the back up players would of been up to the job of at least matching a first division outfit also playing a lot of their second string yet we fell apart and lost the half 18-6

I think you're down playing York there a bit. They're a championship outfit who are well coached, have recruited well and are aiming for promotion.
It's too early to write off the youngsters just yet.
Yes I was disappointed with the 2nd half but I wasn't surprised.
It'll take time for the squad to develop and adjust to Hodgson's style.
I just hope there will be no Radford type hangovers and a revert to type whilst we develop.
Hodgson I'm sure will have got a lot out of that game which will be more important than the score.

Iirc York had 11 subs for the game - did they not play them and only had their first team on show in the second half? No, they were as depleted as us yet where much better
