| I've also heard the rumour regarding Scott Taylor, could be a good signing, and as far as I know he's an FC fan at heart!

| Quote: al283 "Scott Grix playing outstanding at Hudds, won't be expensive & british ! He'd be my choice.
O'Meley key, suspect he will need a big pay rise to stop him returning toNRL or being poached by a top4 outfit. Replacing him will be VERY difficult.
Luaki, utter waste of a quota spot - two years in we get 15 minutes and the odd strong carry.
Washy to stay for me - the fellas an established super league player who always gives 100%. Hardly his fault we moved him out of position, his decline more down to our coaching than his lack of ability. I back him to come good soon. Even if he dfoesn't he provides excellent cover across several positions and never lets us down. Can't believe some think Green, Kent, Cunningham etc can replace him, some of these aren't exactly newcomers to the club !
Interesting negotiating ahead, fingers crossed we come out ahead !'"
Bit of a contradiction in terms there. Washbrook must have made his debut 6 or 7 seasons ago and hasn't nailed down a regular spot. He is certainly not a new comer to the club. Green, Kent and Cunningham haven't been given a chance yet.
How do you work out his decline is from coaching? Are you attending all training sessions?
To say he provides excellent cover is over egging his abilities. He is an average SL player. If he provided excellence he would have been in the 17 every week.
Too much sentiment. Time for new faces.

| I think we could do with some new deal information from the club now. I know we tend to keep good news for Mondays after defeats, but I'm getting twitchy about O'Meley and Moa now, wolfie's reassurances notwithstanding.

If he was in the 17 every week the he would no longer be cover. He isn't an excellent player, but he is one who can cover all across the back row, and halves and hooker if really short at a decent standard. Provided his wages aren't obscene then he would be well worth keeping IMO.

Don't get me wrong, I am not having a dig at Washbrook. Unfortunately for him (and Tommy Lee for that matter) there were so many on this forum clammering for their inclusion claiming they were the next Sterling / Kenny combination in teh halves, that the stark reality was expectations were far too high for these two. It went to Lee's head and he rarely backed it up. Washbrook is a lot more level headed, which is too his credit. But he must realise that, in a short career, does he really just want to be a bench warmer? Afterall, in the last 5 years, the club have recruited in the positions he can cover.

I think Washy is good enough ti start for a team that wants to be scraping into the 8, but no higher. Also, the biggest problem that he's had is that we started to play a prop at 13 instead of more creative player, especially as he'd been playing well in the seasons leading up to that.
As I said, if the price was right I'd keep him, whether he'd want to stay is another matter.

| British, under 30, former international, not a prop..ticks all the boxes.
Also, we are very short in the back row. Would make sense.

Disappointing if true, after a few years of the club trying to make our players role models for the club, we sign a player who has been banned for drug use....

| Hock would be a great signing.
Can't see Wigan going all out to get him back training early, to let him sign for us.
For me Hock was a hard done too.

If he doesn't play us he'll play for someone else, against us. If he's anywhere near as good as he was then a good signing (if true). Would you rather have a squeaky clean club or a successful club?
