Why are people surprised ? When Kear went, Agar was not ready .
He now obviously feels he is ready. If an Aussie had come in he may of wanted Agar out . Hull must think highly of him.
I for one am pleased we have chosen the British option and not gone for the "panic" Big name Aussie. People moan and groan about GB being unable to compete internationally. They never will if the Brits are not given a chance . This is also what the Franchise era is about . Young British players and Coaches entering into the fray , instead of highly paid Aussies or New Zealanders milking Clubs for their retirement fund.
Hopefully Hetherington will give Agar the Finances to bolster his squad for 2009 .
On Sunday in defeat we played more Rugby than we had done all season. His style must differ from Sharp`s.
With R.Horne , Dykes , Motu , Whiting , King and Berrigan on the field we would have beaten Saints.

I agree to some extent and understand what you are saying. But Folkes is a proven coach with bags of experience. He would not have been a panic appointment and would have been able to develop the local lads within our squad. This could potentially had a positive knock on effect for England.
Don't forget, he would not be coming here to make a name for himself and then bugger off, he has been there, done it and got the t-shirt. |

Ahh the anti Aussie/ NZ bit - well if he's "up and coming" and "British" he must be right for the job! Silly me i must bare that in mind next time i do some external recruiting! |

And if there was the chance of relegation this year do you think they would still have appointed richard or gone for a so called name coach ???? dont think he would have stood a chance if theer was the chance of relegation personaly think it's a stop gap plug a hole and see what happens. At the end of the season no matter how he perform's we will still be a superleague team ????

Possibly. I think this appointment is more to do with cash, or lack of it than anything else. Just my opinion. |

He also passed it inside straight to a Saints player when he had Raynor outside him and free earlier in the game. |
