Well Wikipedia says
Quote Genehunt1973 The ground is owned and managed by Wigan Football Company Limited, which is 98% owned by Wigan Athletic and it is used by Wigan Athletic football club and Wigan Warriors rugby league club, the rugby union club [[isic[/i having a 50 years lease on tenancy to play games at the stadium.'"

The Whelan family have sold Wigan Athletic to Hong Kong-based company International Entertainment Corporation for £22m after 23 years as owners.
(BBC July 2018 ish), Wigan Athletic owns 98%, can't find who owns the other 2%.

| The Council are selling to Grudgell just so he can get some of his investment back. Think he’s desperate to get shut myself.
Caravan Park is an ageing stadium so all maintenance costs will soon be theirs. At least the Council footed the £100K floodlight bill.

Why would the council do that, even if they could?
Hudgell would clearly be happy to step aside if there was somebody with the money and desire to take over.
I think Rovers are already responsible for the upkeep of the stadium, although that is largely based on what i’ve seen on internet forums.

| Don’t underestimate the amount of goodwill the Dobbins have in the upper echelons of the Council. Certainly get looked after more than any other professional sports club in the city. Only because you don’t know about it doesn’t mean it’s not happening.
They’ll get their ground at a good price as they’re worried Grudgell would pull the plug if not.

Do you want to back that up with facts? or you just having a rant because it's KR and are still stuck in the 80's?

| The council should help the clubs within reasonable bounds but if they sell some land to rovers which is then developed at a profit then the council should share in that profit imo. They must have stacks of land sat doing nothing that they could give to us on some long lease if we could put a finance package together to build a ground

There’s some fine council owned lands, on the road into Cottingham, maybe we can have a word with the deputy leader of the county council, who I know for a fact, even though he is a Londoner, is a massive rugby league supporter of one of the Hull teams.

Cottingham is in the East Riding, the KC isn't viable without us, we don't need to own a ground, if KR weren't discussing it we wouldn't be.
