| The appointment of Radford, McNamara, Cooke or any combination of them as our head coach would surely be the final straw for many I would imagine. The fact that they were born locally does not alter the fact that not one of them has the right credentials for the job IMO. I have always thought that making Radford an assistant coach was a gamble but a way to remove him and his wages from the playing roster/salary cap. The abiding memory i have of him as captain was being stood under the posts after we had conceded yet another try, hands on his hips making no attempt to rally the team, hardly an inspiring figure to be our new head Coach! Cooke firstly has next to no coaching experience at a professional level and secondly left us high and dry mid season for reasons unknown to sign for our beloved neighbours. He then spent the next few years relishing every opportunity to gloat and rub the faithful's nose in it, I therefore cannot imagine him uniting the club! As for McNamara he was an absolute disaster at Bradford, and has been unable to produce a consistent or entertaining England side despite having the best of Super League to select from! He continually selects players on reputation rather than form, try's to put square pegs in round holes and ignores the form half back in Super League due to what appears to be a personal dislike/grudge. I personally hope that he never has any role to play at Hull FC. If Pearson does decide to sack Gentle then the appointment of his successor would undoubtedly be the single most important decision he has had to make since buying the club and one he simply cannot afford to get wrong!

| Quote el red="el red"Give him a chance, this is why British coaches never get a look in. You need some fresh ideas and this seems like its worth a punt. Radford and Last are well regarded in RL circles so let's reserve judgement.'"
People said exactly the same about Agar.

| Quote Jake the Peg="Jake the Peg"The last decent coach we had was mcrae. He built the foundations of the team which won the cup in 2005 and got to the GF in 2006. Since then we've had a succession of assistants, none of whom have been up to it. We really should have appointed someone with head coach experience when we appointed gentle and to make the same mistake again is foolish on the part of pearson IMO.
Shame that powell has joined cas as he would have been a better candidate IMO.
Also think that Radford is too matey with the current squad and if tony's first 2 pieces of recruitment are feka and mika then he's as bad as mcrae if not worse. Add cooke and last into the mix and instead of a dream team you have a potential nightmare one.
I really think pearson needs to take a step back here and take some advice from outside the club before he makes things worse'"
This. Although in fairness, McRae had a better squad than just about any of his successors.
Smacks of Pearson jerking his knee following our abject performance against Hudds. Maybe he ought to bear in mind that our defence was actually worse than our attack that night and supposedly Radford is in charge of defence coaching...

I'm starting to get that sort of feeling. Like we've been here before. I hope the outcome is different this time, but I'm far from confident it will be.

| Our consistent lack of attacking structure two years on means I think Gentle is not the right man for the job.
No idea whether Radford is up to the job of Super League head coach or not, but he has nowhere near the squad at his disposal that, say, Anderson does so expectations need to be managed well here. What I would hope is that recruitment improves as we target players with more aggression, but not sure that Radford will be a draw for top players.
