You may be confusing elevating a scrum to a penlaty?
I can't ever recall penalties being reversed for retaliation. Once you blow for a penalty that's the game stopped. I have blown for a penalty, sent a player from the non-offending side off for needlessly running in and then continued to give his team the penalty.'"
Sure it used to happen quite a lot when I was playing, but then I played a lot more union than league. Thought it was done in both codes though. |

So only spinal injuries are classed as a sending off offence now then? |

I think you are missing my point. Sam Moa got a straight red for a 'clumsy' hit or careless I think the RFL called it whereas tonight we saw both Lauaki and Westwood put in deliberate ILLEGAL shots and get nothing more then a penalty or a talking to.

Exactly. If it's a sending off, it's a sending off - regardless of whether someone loses the ability to walk or not. |

TBH I have seen to happen to teams I have been playing for a few times.
My arguement ran along the lines of 'But they still commited the fist offence SIR', but they never changed their minds about it though. |

I understand how Wire got the penalty but I dont see how such a deliberate attempt to injure a player like the Westwood swing can be under stated. It was a nasty cheap shot on the back of an illegal shot by lauaki.
Had a jaw been broken then I guess this chat may have gone further... |

I know he did as I was totally stunned when he said it, I have a feeling one was when there was a missed obstruction leading to a Richards try. |
