Leeds were pinged a lot by the ref early doors and Rovers weren't. He calmly spoke to the ref about it not being the same for both sides. He didn't lose his rag and get into trouble, just made his point. It seemed noticeable after that that the ref did even things up a bit and they won the game, even coming out tops when there was a contentious 'try' sent to the video ref which a lot of refs would have given to the home team on the spot.
I personally think he's about as a good a role model for younger players as we have in this country.'"
Thats how I see it, Love him or hate him he does what he needs to to get Leeds any advantage he can but all within the rules of the game, if players are slacking or missing tackle he gathers them round and talks or rollocks them and the repspect he has earned from his team mates means they listen. |
