I was just thinking on Saturday how the RFl used millenium magic to showcase the game in Wales right up until a Wlesh side made Superleague (whatever people say about Wlesh RU not supporting the game, no one can doubt that we stayed down there until the job was done).

Then I thought, what with all the hype Gateshead have received on Sky plus the prospect of Newcastle United desperately needing revenue outside of premiership (I couldn't give a toss about the roundball game so please don't respond about the relative prospects of the tigers v Newcastle)- I wouldn't be surprised to see the event in the Northeast- and now the speculation has begun.

personally, I'm no flat capper, I come from outside the heartlands but firmly support Hull, and think we need a second Superleague club in France to make the international game more credible-especially if the RFL are intent on expansion and continue to ignore the work going on at Widnes. Whatever steps Gateshead have made, they won't match the crowds Toulouse have gotten recently, so if the RFL puts its eggs in the Northeast basket, I won't support it.

Hull FC might get a few Newcastle United fans onside for the day considering the kit simalarities.

Then the robbins will want mackem magic the year after to get Sunderland fans on their side.

How about Afghanistan magic? they would run their hearts out then!

Newcastle is a hole why would we want to showcase rugby there???
I would be quite happy to see it go to France or even Spain though.

I find Newcastle a quite pleasant place, Gateshead is o.k. too.
