No one has to defend him

Hmmm, that post you quoted was about James Rule, not Reardon.

As the brother of someone who was regularly beaten by her partner it may come as a surprise to you to learn that I've no time for to$$ers like that either, and as far as I'm concerned the 5 years her by then Ex partner got inside wasn't long enough.

I agree it was about James Rule double standards thats my point he tells me its not right for a club to sign anyone like that (Greg Bird), as we are a family club and it would send out all the wrong messages,What is fair enough to me.

But then down the line the same year, to then go back on the clubs so called family club ethic of not have people like this in the club is a disgrace.

Its double standards at best I take it as he lied to me and just tried to fob me off like he does to most fc fans with his spin.

Mr Biff,

1) It depends, the law isnt that simple. In my line of work I have powers to go onto peoples property without their permission, for specific, well defined reasons. (and I'm not a baliff or debt collector)

2) He was charged with assault. (which in itsself covers a very broad range of possibilities)

3) the main difference that springs to mind is Bird hasn't been found guilty/plead guilty to anything yet.

So really Greg Bird has been tarnished by James Rule even though its not proven and he is denying the charge and he has his girlfriends backing as well to my knowledge?

But reardon has pleaded/found guilty of assault what i agree could be various things he could of done but with the judge saying there is a very good chance of jail it must have been pretty bad wouldnt you think?

I didn't hear what Rule said, so cant really comment on if Bird was tarnished or not.

If he's got a serious chance of Jail I'd assume he would have had to have pulled her arms off and slapped her with the soggy end given Mr Cockaynes recent precedent.

Quote: Neil HFC "1) He didn't break in (no charges were laid in that respect)

2) you seem to be implying Reardon punched his Ex in the face? again, thats not something that he's been charged with nor has it been mentioned in any reports I've seen.

(the above doesn't mean I'm defending/condoning what he did atall).'"
Err yes there was actually; he was charged with 'Using Violence to Secure Entry' and also with 'Assault'. I think you'll find as is often the case, the defence offered a plea to the assault on the basis that the CPS dropped the other charge; I would imagine that the Crown accepted on the basis that he be sentenced on a full facts basis, that being that the judge hears the full circumstances of the case and sentences accordingly.

Sorry if I jumped in and posted out of order - I would not defend a man who knocked his partner about for Christ sake I know that the majorty of men would not live in this way but my point was that a lot of words have been put on here about the Reardon case - we know nothing and if our club had not SIGNED Him we still would not - Why did we get involved???

I normally don't listen to that sort of show because its generally contrived and he tends to say what he thinks everyone wants to hear.

But for me he had too much to say on rugby matters and i'd say this is the root of all the problems at the club.

Interesting reply James made when asked wether he or the squad read the message boards etc.

It was along the lines of not been interested in what people who hide behind pseudonyms think. And that he would sooner guage the opinions of the more direct contact that he receives.

Fair comment.

Bring on Salford. Come on you Ulll !!

So if everyone used their real name, their opinions would be more valid?
