It hasnt worked in my opinion, the ‘big’ clashes we were meant to get all summer havent materialised, though you can argue the clubs and RFL dont do enough promotion, I also cant forget how dreary 2015 was when we made the 8 but were so far away that it didnt matter, and had to sit through 2-3 home games that meant nothing at all.'"
I don't get this argument at all. One up one down and a smaller number of teams in the play-offs surely means more dead rubbers and less jeopardy.

Definitely. Plenty of dead rubbers in that format

Because the rest of SL owners/CEO's have finally called time on Leeds practically running the game?
at a guess...

They haven't confirmed the new format just a loose mention that it will be 1 up 1 down.
Some have speculated we may see an SL1 and SL2 format with 10 teams in each. If the SL2 is better funded and has at least 1 TV game a week I think i'd be in favour of that. Under this structure crowds and income have continued to decline, it has been our cup wins and improvements in home form and marketing that have kept us growing not the league format.

I think clubs would struggle to survive on just 9 home games a season

Would imagine it would be a huge loss of revenue from sponsors, season ticket holders and walk ups. But there's been talk of player welfare with them playing too many games so I guess its a possibility.

Worrying times for some of the smaller clubs as well as us who are beholden to a far from favourable tenancy agreement

I agree 9 home games wouldent be enough. I'd imagine there would either be a 3rd home game against some teams, or an extended playoff/relegation form like there is now. I do think we currently play too many games though, and also that the season should start later in (usually!) better weather.

| I was at the Andy Last event last night and James Clarke said that two leagues of ten, with a development league underneath that was APs preferred option, but they didn’t think he’d get it through at the moment.
By the way Lasty was really impressive. Passionate, intelligent and B&W through and through. Future head coach somewhere

indeed, I hope the other clubs shut him out completely, and get rid of Ganson too. We may actually get a fair and honest sport back.

They surely wouldn't vote to reduce the games too much.
2008 I think it was, there was a 12-team SL, with 27 rounds, so we played some teams twice, 13 home games overall. 30 regular games is too many.
There's no obvious solution. In the day or so since the Elstone conference, I've seen about 20 different proposed league structures from fans on here and on twitter. It's really difficult to get the balance right between money, competition, excitement, supporting the lower leagues etc.
My own personal view is slightly less league games, a mid-season 3 game international break, change magic weekend so it's not for league points (perhaps CC QF's), 14-team SL (26 games), 2 up, 2 down (14th and 1st down automatically, 13th place vs 2nd place playoff), higher funding to lower leagues, compulsory reserve grade, academy & womens team, top 6 playoffs. I appreciate almost everyone will view it differently.

For me personally the Middle Eights rubbish has to go, it just too much TV driven and at present 6 teams are finding it hard to recruit for next season because of the jeopardy in it, all that can't be good for developing the game and its players long term. One league of twelves teams with the possibility of 33% going down is ludicrous if you want to grow the game. What is interesting to see is the way that all the Super League clubs are rallying round to support the new Chief Executive and the changes with this afternoon even Wakey and Huddersfield (Plus Mr Hudgell) affirming their support.

^^^THIS^^^
For me the RFL have to make massive changes to the way they operate and run the game. Woods and Co just became self serving and really on the grand scale of things what in the last 10 years have the RFL done that we can look back at and say they've done a good job for the sport?
